With that explanation, I would think that at the beach, where you are surrounded by scantily clad babes and hunks, there would be even a GREATER need to be reminded of covenants. I'd think that any time you were "out in the world", you'd need them, but then you could strip them off as soon as you got into the "safety" of your own home.

I HOPE that by "donors", they meant people who voluntarily chose SPECIFICALLY to purchase the manuscript to give the LDS church. If it included tithing money, then shame on them! Well, shame on them all anyway for spending millions on a museum piece when there are so many desperate people in dire need right now!

No demand my foot! Everyone knew it was a WoW thing. I had to buy it off campus if I wanted any. I still remember move out day at the end of the semester and I had bought a Diet Coke (off campus) for when I got finished cleaning and packing. Finally, my work is done and I go to get it out of the fridge and it's gone. One of my roommates breezes by and says, "Oh, I drank that. And e

I think you can LOVE someone unconditionally but still not want to marry them. Marriage is not just a love relationship, after all. It is also a life partnership. So even if you love someone immensely and accept their life choices, you may decide that your differences are too great to support a happy and healthy partnership.

It was all written by hand, so wouldn't it be sort of obvious if someone changed it? The handwriting and ink wouldn't match exactly. They'd have to either squeeze in changes, or rewrite the whole thing. I can imagine squeezing in changes "I Nephi, havingNOTbeen born of goodly parents..." And then Joseph could still just say, "I wrote this copy, not that copy." What could

That work sounds much too rigorous for older people. Perhaps before they die of exhaustion while on the job, they will be in the proper spirit to bequest part or all of their estate to the LDS church.

Not sure if this relates to the above statistic exactly, but according to the LDS Church.... https://tech.lds.org/wiki/Membership_record000-11046228 For statistical and reporting purposes, the following persons are members of record and should have a membership record: - Those who have been baptized and confirmed. - Those under age nine who have been blessed but not baptized. - Those

The only reason they'd need to do ANY of that stuff written there is if the person did not want to be found by the LDS church. Otherwise, the person would certainly advise their old and/or new bishop themselves. So that whole page is just creepy.

I think many people think that an Atheist is someone who is actually AGAINST God, who is ANTI-God, antagonistic or hateful toward God. And so that is different from someone who just doesn't believe. Because of that misconception, I usually avoid the term and just say that I don't belong to a church. It's much less threatening.

A prophet is someone who supposedly speaks on behalf of God to the people. But anyone can SAY they are speaking the words of God, so someone ELSE has to authorize that person. So a "true" prophet is the person acknowledged as such by people in authority over the religion you are with. Their acknowledgement is what makes him true . . . to you. So no need to worry about it any further.

And why WOULD an angel need to take them? The information on them was already disseminated to the world, and even if all the copies disappeared, I'm sure a supreme being could re-tell the AMAZINGLY most perfect information to the world once again. So it would basically just be a big block of gold.

I'm so sorry for all your troubles. Truly a very difficult time. I wonder if any emergency services (Like dialing 2-1-1) might be able to recommend resources to you or get some help for you.

--I disagree with the LDS church beliefs regarding the roles and rights of women, --and their beliefs regarding the meaning of skin color, --and their beliefs regarding homosexuality, -- and a lot of other things, but those are the main ones. So I just stick with these more contemporary topics instead of all the tons of historical and doctrinal issues. People seem to understand that those

If ONE of them gives you an STD, wouldn't there be a great danger of passing that on to the other two men? Sounds very risky to me!

no, no, no, people who don't tithe just want to spend that money on all those evil "earthly pleasures". The money you spent doing something nice for someone was the OTHER money, not the tithing money.

Sounds like my life! I like the kind of person that I am now more. I feel like I'm WAYYYY more accepting of people now. That could partly be age, I suppose. But I'm more accepting of myself as well - not so worried about how "worthy" I am. I just try to live the kind of life that I feel is a good life.

But yeah, I can't go along with just continuing with the meeting. No,you don't want everyone let loose to mill around and get in the way. But while the bishop, family and some skilled people exit to move, attempt to revive etc the man, the remaining counselor could lead the congregation in prayer on behalf of the man and his family. You know, show some compassion.

I've used a 4-cup Mr Coffee for YEARS and it does the job just fine. I've tried some of the methods the connoisseurs seem to favor, but always just go back to my 4-cup Mr coffee. They have smaller 4-cup filters for them too. You could certainly find an easy hidey-hole for it.

If not the beginnings of dementia, which also crossed my mind, I feel like she isn't so much trying to turn your kids against you but is instead USING them to coerce you into staying home, perhaps out of guilt or regret for not having done the same herself. Or perhaps in her mind, she thinks she's just letting you know that it's OKAY to stay home by getting your kids to TELL you they'd like for

That seems like a very important scripture for Joseph Smith to focus on since it could be twisted around very nicely to fit his own situation in which he could only escape being put in jail if he lied about having plural wives.

Yeah, but back in biblical times, perhaps it was a way to get people to FINALLY take a bath. GOD WANTS you to get in the water. They just didn't go far enough. They should have added that in order to renew your covenant you should sprinkle/shower daily and then once a week sweat all the evil out of you at the church's sauna.

I tell you, that Joseph Smith was one crafty son of a gun. To act righteously you needed to PAY TITHING/HIM and he promises that if you are really really righteous, you'll prosper in the land. Now because everyone paid HIM, HE prospered more than everyone else, so HE appeared to be the most righteous. Since everyone else fared worse financially due to giving away their money to HIM, they neede

My husband is a good example of why you don't need religion to be a good person. He's good to me and the family, helpful to the neighbors, donates to a couple of favorite local causes, and lives a healthy lifestyle. He does good things for the sake of making his or someone else's life easier or better. . . and he's atheist. But even THAT is his lifestyle. Who's to say that just living quietly
