Mid to late 70's. Disco era. I'm certain the polyester was mixed with substances not found in nature...or anywhere else in the universe for that matter! Oh, yes, they were "mainstream." All the "hip" kids (and celebrities) wore them. Geezers of the time pooh-poohed them. I had one. Only one. It was baby-blue. Feel free to ridicule me. :) edit: it looked a lot

Let me know when they start tracking hate crimes *committed* by LDS Inc. They're about 190 years behind on starting that.

Being factual about the authorship of bible books doesn't (necessarily) make the bible "mistaken." After all, if what's written is "true," it doesn't matter who wrote it, and the only "mistake" would be the attribution of an author's name. But, of course, that's a "crack" that mormons (and many christians, too) aren't willing to let open. They think it

Snowflakes are (supposedly) all uniquely individual. Snowflakes are natural, beautiful, complex. Snowflakes are mortal -- born in a tumultuous storm, drift for a while, put down somewhere, then disappear without a trace. Yeah, I don't like the way the ignorant use that term, either. But I like my version of the analogy :)

I hear it's something about always keeping your shoulders covered, how great sex is with garmies on (not off!), and how if you're not pregnant or nursing, you're not fulfilling your role as a celestial bride. Or something like that.

Mother Nature clearly isn't our mormon celestial mommy... Or at the very least, she's not active! :)

Have you seen the price of vanilla extract lately? It's gone through the roof! https://www.businessinsider.com/vanilla-expensive-stolen-madagascar-2018-9 If it's alcohol you want, beer/wine are much more cost effective :)

Is there a possibility? Sure. A small one. Is it more likely that the family story wasn't accurate? Yep. Mormons like to think "DNA disappears!" as an excuse for why there's no trace of Jewish DNA in Native Americans. In the real world, that's not how it usually works.

Depends. Sometimes stupid things, despite being stupid, can be fun. I wouldn't put going back to church in that category though...:)

If any of that chart is real, Joseph Smith & Brigham Young (among many other prominent mormons) will be in the "dishonest, liars...adulterers, whoremongers" group. I'd rather be in "outer darkness" than anywhere with those two for eternity anyway. Don't worry, though -- none of that chart is real :)

It is, however, extremely easy to simply ignore the ancient rantings of an ignorant misogynistic culture that are called 'scripture,' and simply treat women and men like individual human beings. :)

I agree. And I'd add that there is no "one size fits all" solution. I think it's important to recognize that.

Hmm, let's see... "OME!* We're losing members! What should I do? I know...I'll make members stop calling ourselves mormons, double-down on discrimination against the kids of gay members/non-members, make church shorter on Sunday, and change the eternal/unchangeable temple rituals so women feel less like property! That'll do it!" Yeah, so...no. No credit. * Oh My Elohim

You don't "need" to. You also don't "have" to. There's a difference between "you have to" and "if you don't people will gossip about me/chastise me." If you don't care about gossip and chastising, then they're irrelevant. Wear what you want. And ignore the peer pressure. Or better yet...don't go :)
