Print off the text from the pre-1990 endowment ceremony that deals with the oaths, and after he has read them, ask if it is accurate. It takes a bigger liar to deny it when presented with evidence. FWIW, I testify with every fiber of my being that the wording of the endowment ceremony found online is 100% true.

For me, the biggest emotional pain was in leaving the church, and losing all the dreams connected to that. The divorce was an emotional nightmare too. However, looking back, I found the loss of the church 'dream' to be the bigger emotional issue to get over. Not to be flippant, but replacing a spouse with a younger, cuter non-Mormon girlfriend is a pretty quick way to salve the pain of

MONEY is a stronger force than all of those things, including kids. To divorce with multiple kids often leaves both partners broke and struggling

Yes. It ended in divorce. A marriage cannot work if one of the partners is stuck in the "I'm not sure I want to remain married" mindset.

Another suggestion: "I see the fruits of your mission are that you've turned into a judgmental prick. How nice that must feel for you."

Dear DevoutMormon, Why do you even care about the reasons? The real reasons people leave your precious cult? What is it within you that encourages you to want to hear the stories of those that have left the cult? And if you want to know some of the reasons, there is a biography section of this website, where people have written their exit stories. You could read there and get a flavour

My 17 month old daughter learns something new every time we read her the book, 'Touch and Feel Baby Animals'. It's not that deep either. LOL

ELOHIM: This is the sign. The execution of the Penalty is represented by placing the thumb under the left ear, the palm of the hand down, and by drawing the thumb quickly across the throat to the right ear, and dropping the hand to the side. I will now explain the covenant and obligation of secrecy which are associated with this token, its name, sign and penalty, and which you will be required

I guessed this was a reference to the open sided sheets we used to wear for temple washing and anointings?

They don't know that they teach it. They don't know that they emphasize it. They haven't heard it discussed for a long time in public discourse. They don't know.

My drives are not often straight. My chip shots are randomly fat and thin. My putting tends to be a 3 more than I'd like. However, I can talk shit for all 18 holes. Shame you're not golfing in Houston. :o)

A BP presides over a much smaller congregation size than a bishop. Typical ward attendance might be 80-100. Typical Branch attendance might be 30-50. The BP also differs from a bishop in that it is much more essential for a BP to have immediate and unrestricted access to the Branch computer records. To be busy on the computer when the BP needs it would slow down the work of God, and pre

You are spot on. It's just the same old tired excuses and explanations that have been used for decades. With one new one to add to the mix, modern technology.

Was this malicious, or more like an error that a lesson can be learnt from? And as cl2 said, is the issue that really concerns you bigger than the money in this instance, but you can pin a problem onto the money?

I would say with certainty that these 2 missionaries are struggling with their testimonies. That they have opened up to you a little about their concerns is a big deal. Their concerns are probably even bigger and deeper than they have admitted to you.

I was a great Ward Clerk. When I counted the Sacrament attendance I always added a little extra onto the real number so we could boost our ward budget a little. That centralized funding was total joke. How to destroy the fun ward and stake activities with a single policy change.

I don't think Perth branch has ever been alive. It's always struggled from my experience. It's building was a design with the specific intent to expand it easily as the Perth folks flocked to the One True Church. As you know, they didn't. Ha ha ha.

Since his wife has her eyes on becoming a lawyer in her own right, I'm thinking she isn't as tied to the idea of being Mrs Dr Mightybuffalo as many typical Mormon brides may be. I'm actually thinking that she is likely to exit to Mormon cult in her own right given time. She seems too smart, too ambitious and too interested in bettering herself to fit the Mormon woman mold. If Mightybuffalo
