It was Jehovah Witnesses though who were singled out for genocide along with the Jews because they were pacifists who did not join the Nazis in WWII. The only other groups that were targeted were mainly the disabled, gypsies, homosexuals, and black people. Other people targeted would be executed if they were caught in the Resistance trying to save Jews or others from the genocide.

They're on the doorposts of each door @ shul. I keep them on the front and side doors of my house, but haven't put them on the inner doors. That's done at shul too (inside doors as well as outer doors.) They have the shema prayer written inside them, which is actually the mezuzah, not the ornate container they're kept inside. "And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house

One thing JW and Jews share in common is historically ie, they were both targeted during the Holocaust and murdered by the Nazis for their religious beliefs.

I was responding to your post when Tevai's thread closed. Here is your post, and my reply. This is not meant in anyway to rehash the last thread btw. It is simply to respond to Nightingale's post (since I don't know why Tevai's thread closed prematurely.) https://www.exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,2244193,2245117#msg-2245117 Nightingale Wrote: ----------------------------------------------

There are times I marvel at the things we did for fun back then (in the 1900's *giggling*,) and survived to tell about em. There was MIA night early 1970's when we were riding with our leader to a swimming pool gathering up at a mountain retreat like place where families would go for family home evenings, and church nights out, etc. I had the stroke of brilliance to flash someone behind u

Lincoln wasn't involved with Mormonism at any time, nor was his wife, Mary. How do I know? Because neither of them were susceptible to it. The Mormon religion was on the fringe of society. The Lincolns were both the elite and the upper class of their day. They were worlds apart. They moved in completely different cultures, namely high society for the Lincolns. Joseph Smith was a renegade and a ro

I think that light show was seared into your memory the same as it was seared into theirs (those guys in the other vehicle.) That and the adrenaline rush! Hope those guys were only scared more than injured.

That has been explained and reiterated by the original poster. Lincoln is still one of his ancestors.

I disagree. There is good in all things. And there is evil. Sometimes the evil does outweigh the good in life, but not always. You have to look for the good to find it sometimes. Other times it's not so hard to see when it's right in front of you. As for prayers, I've had some of mine answered where I knew that they were as in no fuzzy indicators that there was anything else at play.

Can't do anything about argumentative nitwits either. Some things are just what they are. I give a person a compliment, and you want to shred my compliment because you are that kind of a person. Take it back to the other thread, why doncha? I have nothing to say to you. You just want to stir up dissension. As for Arabs in Israel, check the immigration records. See for yourself. Th

Thank you for sharing that about Lincoln. I wouldn't have taken him for a foolish man either. He'd have seen through Mormonism quite clearly because he was not taken in by the cunningness or chicanery like many of Joseph's Smith's inner circle were. He'd have spotted Joseph early on as a Wolf wearing sheep's clothing. Lincoln was a well read and self-educated man, not a simpleton. He was an i

You are 100% correct about that. That's very cool you're related so close in proximity to Abraham Lincoln. He was one classy dude! As for president, he was par none. :)

The Mormons turn a blind eye with its "don't ask, don't tell" policy. That's what has worked for them for years. It it ain't broke, why fix it? is their mentality. When children have been molested from within the church confines they settle out of court, "may" hold a church council or not depending on who the perp was/is. And then it's back to business as usual, guiding th

Oh my goodness. I just found hiding in my kitchen a sugar free peach pie that I hadn't even broken open yet from my local grocer's deli. Still in the little cardboard box it came in three days ago. I forgot it was there lol. Was craving something sweet, and since I haven't left the house all day since I didn't have to go anywhere I'm still in my bathrobe. There it was, sitting in plain view on my

Did you know that in Japan it's the law to call a cab if a person even has just one drink of alcohol ? It takes TWO drivers to get one person home in Japan. One person to drive the imbiber (the cab driver takes him or her home.) And the second driver to drive that person's car home for him or her. It's known as dhaka. Utah's DUI laws being the toughest in the nation now are still not as toug

I think since 9/11 our entire country became a Prozac nation. It may not be only Utah. The opioid epidemic is a national one. Utah ranks near the top of the list, but it isn't the only state that is. A lot of people are in pain and self-medicate. What do doctors do for them when they come to them in pain but prescribe pain pills? For anxiety they prescribe Valium. Anti-depressants for

I haven't had any pie or beer today, but I did have the day off from work - paid leave for a different reason than Pioneer Day. So I celebrate things my own way. With a York Peppermint Patty and sipping on organic home brewed coffee.

Hey, I'm all for lower food prices. Housing is so high in Utah that it gobbles up more than 33% of people's cost of living. If it means giving them a break in their food prices, people still have to eat at the end of the day. Those cakes are bee-u-tee-full. They look like floral bouquets lined up and down in rows in the bakery aisle of Smith's. They are so eye-appealing, I can't imagine them

When visiting Salt Lake City this past June I was pleasantly surprised at how low the baked goods prices are at Smiths Grocery Stores. It is one of the areas best values for selection and variety. My son picked out a yummy, large delicious slice of cherry pie that cost less than $2. On the east coast it would be not less than four or five. Full size cakes were under $10. East coast prices fo

One doesn't have to be a Mormon to celebrate Pioneer Day heritage. I celebrate it as an ex-Mormon since many of my ancestors were Mormon pioneers who helped to settle parts of the Morridor. As children growing up there we got involved in the local parades. Some were church held events. Others were community wide. It's a big event throughout Utah and southeastern Idaho on this day July 24th,

Thanks, Tevai, for sharing some of the links above. While he doesn't seem to be a racist (I searched some of his Twitter topics, Q&A,) he is promoting his book on how to live prosperously through spiritual principles. He says there are "No poor people in America, albeit there are plenty of people living in poverty." Then devotes an entire podcast to explaining himself on why
