Yes and no. It means something to me. Some of my ancestors are Jewish. Including Holocaust victims, whose names were baptized in proxy. Totally offensive by Jewish standards. I'm currently practicing Jewish. Yet my TBM family can still submit my name when I die to have me rebaptized. There ought to be a way, like an injunction by the courts if necessary, to prevent this atrocity from

Having had my records removed when I resigned from the church records; is it possible to block my TBM relatives from having me be rebaptized after I die? The thought makes me cringe. They'll do whatever they get away with. Shouldn't it be possible for us to file something to insure it doesn't happen to us, or those we love who also aren't TBM? I could see a class action suit on ou

Be thankful you are in touch with your feelings, despite his being a clod. Some parents have children to validate themselves. A loving father would want what's best for you, rather than living through you to satisfy him. You owe him nothing at this point. It will be up to him to make reparations if he ever grows up. He may live to regret his poor decisions, but you aren't responsible for

Found one supermarket locally that was open. The other stores close up shop for Easter Sabbath where I live. One really good supermarket was all I needed, to stock up on a few supplies. Put together a simple Easter supper, nothing fancy, but tasty. Not a lot of shoppin' today. But was able to get some petrol for the car. Some coffee on the go. The sundries of life. And now able to

"As a former member/gay man, I hope he makes a bundle from his former oppressors." Right! He is laughing all the way to the bank. But providing a service that is much in demand. A smart fella. He's been able to find a "happy medium," in ability to bridge his past to his present, without bitterness or acting the oppressed.

Most "thin" swimsuits nowadays, and for a good many years, are basically skimpy. There are some one piece; but even then, finding a modest one or two piece that is flattering and geared for younger women can be challenging.

I always wanted to dissent when I was a Mormon. Just to say I did that. Especially if I didn't like who was being ordained or whatever it's called, when called to an office. Some people really don't belong in the positions they've been called to. They have no more leadership skills or people skills than a turnip. That's part of the problem with Mormon lay ministry. They have a

The fashion designer takes pride in both being gay, and knowing what LDS women need and want for clothing. He also caters to non-LDS who have similar fashion sense. But Muslim clothing? Hardly the same thing. Mormon women love to dress fashionably and look sexy and alluring at same time. Although on missions, modesty is still strict policy, as one would expect it to be. Conservati

That depends on where you shop at. Finding fashionable but modest swimsuits is a challenge for many women, whether LDS or other faith. For most women, modesty also means finding a good "fit." Many retailers only cater to the very thin, especially for swim suits. Fuller figures usually end up shopping different retailers because many stores do not carry a full range of si

Former LDS member launches women's fashion line for young LDS female soon-to-be missionaries. He's got the goods, and caters to their fashion sense. :) http://fox13now.com/2015/04/04/former-member-of-lds-church-launches-molly-mo-clothing-line-for-sister-missionaries/

Bet this will be nipped in the bud by October's Gen Conference. Then those attending will not only be asked to produce their admission tickets, but also photo ID, with maybe signature &/or fingerprint. Haha. No more dissension allowed. That will be the end to voting dissenters in the peanut gallery.

Grass roots group organized yesterday's disturbance, and pulled it off quite brilliantly. May be small in numbers, but think of the millions they reached! :D "In the press release, group organizers encouraged church members to anonymously send their general conference admission tickets to a post office box in American Fork, prior to the conference, so the tickets could be redistributed t

Interesting. My ex-husband was from former communist Poland. As a teenager he was sent to study in Russia, to learn the ways of the regime. He was taught that Communism was only a tool used by the government to control the masses. Only an ideology. Not something even those who govern using it as their guise, believe in. Power is what drives governments; pure and unadulterated. Ide

Your quote: "No - to me, it seems clear: the LDS church is moving into a post-doctrinal phase, and it probably won't be too much longer (maybe a decade or three) until the church acknowledges the permissibility of believing the Book of Mormon only to be "inspired fiction"." The RLDS has been operating on this premise already for decades! (Is now the Community of Christ chu

I don't waiver because my faith in God is too strong to deny it. I've had divine intercession occur more than once in my life; which is why I know we're not alone on this planet and that there are unseen forces watching over us. I won't be sharing them here however, because of those who are hostile to the idea of a loving God, or divine intercession. My experiences were real enough t

That was kind of you to offer them water. They surely must appreciate that. I can only imagine all the doors that get shut on them as they traverse their neighborhoods. I don't let any missionaries in, no matter their religion. Some people will if only to share their beliefs back at them. I don't have the time or inclination to do that, but I still feel for them knowing how hard a job they ha

It isn't true, and don't let them manipulate you into believing it is! Run, don't walk, to the nearest exit! That missionary should NOT, I repeat SHOULD NOT, be speaking to you as long as you're a minor. What he's trying to do is manipulate you away from your family, your home, your way of life. Even if you are questioning, that is normal, do not fear the questions or soul searching. But

Good posting. Thanks for sharing. I like the advertisement the church took out, but not sure if it mocks the play more, or vice versa? ;)

Thanks for sharing. Guess things like dreams by their nature, can be open to interpretation. But to the holder of them, when they're your dreams then on a most personal level - that sometimes anyway, I believe we are in touch with something beyond in the divine realm that communes with us through dreams. My grandmother used to dream of each of her children before they were born. A little
