Sounds like his only interactions with Mormons were in Hawaii when he was much younger. I think he’s in his mid to late 60s now. Not to paint Pacific Islander Mormons with too broad a brush, but before I knew about RfM, in about 2001, I met a Polynesian Jackmo who was a major pothead. He was from Ogden, and his mother was a convert. He served his mission in Hawaii in the late ‘70s or ea

He thinks Mormons would be great allies for these immigrants. I asked him how many exmormons he knows. He got pedantic about knowing a few and some jackmos and ** EDIT “a dozen or so” ** of practicing Mormons and he studied Mormonism for a couple of years. I replied (this is on my page not the county one): “Listen more to the exmormons. “And I would ask them about Bishop worthiness

https://eclipse23.com/pages/faqs They ran a big campaign on FB to have people donate their used eclipse glasses so they can give them to kids in Latin America for the August 2024 eclipse. Being in Provo, I wondered if missionaries from BYU are now going to be taking potential converts to see the eclipse. Made me think of Japan’s baseball dunking scandal.

*Poof* and an NHL team and an NBA assistant coach are transported from Mormon Light to Mormon More. Serves them right for stealing the Cardinals.

a lot of thought and effort went into the flyer’s design, but they didn’t mention that it’s a church event? The contacts are: “Hno. ” and “Hna. ”

So, I’m in a FB group for my county, and there’s a post about an upcoming event in town “celebrating the Latino cultures in our community.” It’s going to be held at the stake center and blah blah bring friends for food and fun blah. Nowhere is it mentioned that it’s a Mormon event. Plenty of churches and whatever post their events on the page. Meh. Whatever. But this seemed kind

It’s going to be addressed! https://www.sltrib.com/religion/2024/04/18/tithing-lawsuits-four-states/ “In addition to asserting similar claims, the cases now grouped before Shelby also all seek to create a class of similarly situated plaintiffs who would join the case.”

Okay. Unless his contract is made public, we’ll never know what deal was negotiated and how his pay is structured. All I can say is that corporate finance was once my job, and you’d be amazed at how creative lawyers and accountants can be when it comes to structuring pay packages. Even for “rich working stiffs.” ETA: By definition, working stiffs aren’t rich, and this guy’s positio

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong. I think this model is solid mahogany and weighs about nine pounds. It’s thicker than most electric guitars.

Yeah. Standing with it is hard. Look at the guitar strap he’s wearing in the photo. It’s more padded than my hiking day pack. Les Pauls tend to be heavy. The ‘59 especially so, and I think this one’s neck is wide. I guess I could play it like lap steel?

Yeah. I mean, kids are malleable and dependent, but they also have a strong desire for fairness. The more I realized just how unfair our religion was, the more upset I became.

Yeah, and I was the only kid at all these dumbass meetings. Did I mention Bible study and prayer meeting were from 7pm to about 11pm? Eesh. But I remember the school librarian recommending “A Wrinkle in Time” to me. I was afraid to bring it home (witchcraft!), but I read it in the library which was basically a beat up trailer home sitting in the middle of tarmac. We didn’t have a playgro

Yeah, she was trying. She’s had an incredibly rough life, and she blames the things that have happened to her on a lack of faith. Her experiences don’t give her a pass. She’s been incredibly physically, emotionally and mentally abusive to me and my brother. Her answer is religion. My answer for myself was parenting classes. Trying to learn to be authoritative without being authoritarian. I

I wish he would raise ducks. I mean, when you eat, breathe and sleep religion like we did, there’s a big space that can be filled with just about *anything* when you leave. My brother is a gifted visual artist and committed to community projects. He’s into creating green spaces in the ghetto for community gardens and parks. He volunteers with children and teaches free art classes. Mayb

Before my mom went nuts (I use the term colloquially), she sent me to a great public school. Teachers saved me. My parents separated when I was five, and while my father was somewhat clueless about kids, he did support me, and I saw him regularly. He’s an atheist and has a degree in chemistry. He became a computer scientist at some point, so I was able to go to a Friends’ school until I got t
