We need to take a break from these topics for awhile. It is rare we step in and try to steer conversations, but in this case we feel these have gotten way off the topic of Mormonism and recovery from Mormonism. Newbies who need support get lost in the off-topic posts. Eric site founder

"The faithless often promote themselves as the wise, who can rescue the rest of us from our naivete," Clayton said. "We should disconnect, immediately and completely, from listening to the proselytizing efforts of those who have lost their faith, and instead reconnect promptly with the holy spirit." http://www.sltrib.com/news/3805769-155/byu-grads-encouraged-to-keep-an?page

The money is just for site maintenance. It is too hot to be outside tonight so I will be playing some blues inside this evening and terrorizing the cat.

I had the same experience yesterday. I play in a jazz group which has performed for the veterans every Veterans Day for the past 10 years. The last two years they had ministers give talks that were simply awful. One stated was how he was grateful to live in the South and not with the godless up north, how Christianity needs to be spread more etc. I commented to the base commander last year

I will put out the total donations received summary when I have a few minutes late this evening or in the morning on Tuesday. The rough total is over 2900.00 and a few more have trickled in since. We received enough in just one day. Amazing. I played in a jazz band for the Vets this morning. This evening I have a concert to perform in with a community orchestra. There are a few tunes I n

Great story. Glad you are out! Your dad saved your life. It is always interesting that non-Mormons and ex-Mormons care more about missionaries than church authorities. Hope your health continues to improve.

This gets to be a topic quite often. No child or teenager, male or female, should ever be alone with a Bishop or his counselors for an interview. That should never be allowed to happen. The abuse may not be physical. The abuse is often psychological. Being a normal teenager is tough enough without creating unnecessary guilt.

Thanks. In less than an hour we have already received $130.00. A great group of people here! Heading to the gym and then dinner with our neighbors.

We have already received $20.00 and another for $5.00 in just a few minutes. In the past, the average donation was $25.00. We don't want to make this a burden to anyone. Thanks, Eric

We have been fortunate that one individual paid $105.00 monthly for over 12 years. That stopped last year. I thanked him for his generosity. It was a great resource for us. We had advertising for a legal firm that did not have the impact we had hoped. Mormons are afraid to sue their church. I am retired now and do not wish to pay out of my retirement funds. Below is the current invoice. We have f

This site was founded 20+ years ago to give people leaving Mormonism a place safe from proselytizing. I am the founder. There are enough issues in extricating oneself from a cult that we do not need someone preaching to us. My recommendation has always been to take 1-2 years off religion completely, if family circumstances allow, after leaving Mormonism. Take time for family, community, hobb

This is enough. Dazzler, go away. This has nothing to do with recovery.

This is pointless. I have had my fill of evangelicals lately living here in the Bible belt. One representative for a politician running for congress stopped by the house last week touting how the candidate was a devout Christian. Nothing was stated in the pamphlet about his qualifications for office other than he was a Christian with "Christian values". I rarely swear or yell, but t

I am fortunate to play in various groups. This Sunday we finished playing "Ghost - The Musical" with a Sunday matinee. The link to a picture taken this afternoon is below. I alternated playing the tenor and alto saxophone. A much better day than being at church... This picture was taken before the audience entered. http://www.exmormon.org/ghost_musical.jpg

I retired in mid-April. Originally I was going to retire in Sept. of last year (2015). I have not fully recovered from the sepsis I contracted last summer, so for health reasons I was going to retire then. I had clients who asked that I would stay on, at least part time, to complete some engineering projects. Those kept getting extended to April of this year at their request. I finally had

It is clear they keep track of some of us apostates. I am retired and home more now. Last week I was walking from the backyard to the front of the house to water the plants and observed the missionaries tracting. We live in a small cul-de-sac of 5 homes here in east TN. The missionaries parked their car across the street. They knocked on the other 4 houses. They saw me as I stood in the dr

Even as a TBM this verse always bothered me from the BoM: 2 Nephi 25:23 23 For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do. The phrase "after all we can do" implies that it is basically impossible to achieve grace, therefore

First off---the issue isn't one of "Book of Mormon witnesses versus Spaulding witnesses." The fact is, the BOM is a proven fraud based solely upon what's written in its pages. There's simply no scientific evidence to support its story of Pre-Columbian Hebrews emigrating to, and living in, the Americas for 1000 years. Also, the BOM is loaded with plagiarisms and themes lifted from

Like Dagny, we are surrounded by fundamentalists and other church goers in our area in TN. Fortunately our neighbors and good friends are agnostic. A small circle of friends are atheists. We rarely discuss religion. It makes being social so much easier when you do not have to constantly worry about potentially offending someone's religious viewpoint. I believe one can adjust outside of work
