Just like any pyramid scheme, Elohim is now only "progressing" in his downline. Once you acheive god status in mormon theology the only thing to do is cultivate more gods under you by way of the plan of salvation. So he'll never be higher than the gods in his upline, because the more gods he cultivates in his own downline, the more they have in theirs. He can also get more wive

This is the self-nullifying nature of mormon doctrine. If there is no supreme god, then there had to be a first god who became a god all on his/her own. So why can't we?

So you're saying if you took the missionary discussions today you wouldn't do any of your own research to validate their claims? You'd just take it at face value unless someone intervened? Give yourself more credit than that!

Is your friend in kindergarten? Why should you dissuade them at all? If they like it they can join. If they don't, they won't.

They're equal in my eyes. Mormonism, if true, is self-nullifying. If the basic premise is true, that "as man is, god once was. As god is, man may be" then the logical conclusion is that the first god became a god without mormonism to help. Then that god, or some god, created the whole plan of salvation as a god-making pyramid scheme. So a true-believing mormon could easily conclud

I don't believe in any gods but I find the discussions satisfying. Your mileage may vary.

Ok, that makes more sense! I'm certainly not asserting that christians believe they are god. I'm not that stupid. I'm just saying I don't understand how they get around it. They came from god, so they're of god, which is to say they are god.

Depends on the subject. For example: I'm for less financial regulation, more free market I'm for equal opportunities, less affirmative action I'm for equality under the law, not equality of outcome I'm for marriage equality I'm for open dialogue, no safe spaces; Micro-aggressions are a dumb idea I'm for burden of proof being on the accuser, not the accused I'm for the cons

Oh, so Jesus isn't god then? That's an interesting view. Thought christians believed in the trinity? 1 in 3, 3 in 1 and all that? How many gods do you believe in exactly?

Even in the christian tradition you can't escape the logical conclusion that if we were created by god, then we are god. We supposedly came from god, not from anything else. We existed in god's mind, and since god's mind is unchanging, we therefore always existed. The god didn't have a choice but to manifest us, but what was manifested always existed in his mind. So if you're a christian

Don't answer any questions the Patriarch asks prior to the blessing. Just tell him you want pure inspiration. See how generic your blessing is, then once you get it in writing, publish it here and we'll all show you how the patriarch follows a schema and you're basically getting the same blessing everyone else gets. My bet is that your tribe will be Ephraim. Any takers?

Just got back from SLC and I have to say, the word that feels most descriptive is "groovy." SLC is a groovy place now, at least downtown where I stayed. If I had no knowledge of kolobianism I never would have guessed it was a mormon town. You don't even see the temple, it's surrounded by other buildings. Bars everywhere. There was a head shop right by my hotel. I could totally liv

I like to ask, "What is it you believe the end game of mormonism to be? What's the 'whammy?'" Regardless of their response, whether it's watered down or right on point a la Bruce McConkie, I reply, "that doesn't sound good to me." Then we're simply at an impasse. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. The end game for mormonism is just dumb, if you're a dude. If you're a wo
