I'm of the opinion it's a Mormon thing too. In my family you're not allowed to struggle because it's an indication of lack of faith. It's created all kinds of problems like sibling rivalry, unhealthy emotional states, depression and more. It's difficult because when something inevitably goes wrong in life (big or small) one of the first people you want to turn to are parents, but I've learned

Yeah it was awful. Fortunately that little problem, like so many others, resolved itself with a great deal of patience and deconstruction on my part. I now think marriages can be salvaged from both sex and church incompatibility, but it's a long road--and you better be sure it's worth salvaging before walking that long path. In my case, sex was fixed first, church indoctrination second. Good t

We'll pick up where they left off :-). Though I guess sandwiches may not be the way to go this time around :-\. Shoot me an email if you're feeling up to a meetup. That or Cabella's.

Don't smell it. Taste it. It's one of those things that the smell is deceptive. Best other example I can think of...Orange Julius. Seriously Orange Julius. Mix milk and orange juice. It tastes like orange creamsicle, but it smells like vomit. If you don't believe me go try it.

I can only speak by my own experience. 1. Some of my siblings have accepted me, others call me Satan. 2. I got my wife out. It took three years and a lot of patience. The best advice I got was posters Ihidmyself, Anagrammy, Twojedis, BC, Pil-Latté (Heather) and possibly SuzieQ#1 (if spouse stays). 3. I darn near drank myself to death. Now, five years later, I'm in better physical shape

I initially thought the OP may be you, but enough things didn't match that I realized it was close but someone else.

I just had to share the very short argument I had with a young adult today. There were only two questions and it was over. That's it. Left him is a stupor of thought. I felt the need to share.

Hey RfM. This man speaks truth. His advice helped me get my wife out. I'm not always at the meetups due to distance, but they are very beneficial.

Like I said. Love the Anagrammy topics. I also like Christ's teachings, but not Christians so much.

I like the topics that are exposés. Especially if they are insightful or funny. Like Raptor Jesus reads the miracle of forgiveness, or Anagrammy writes an advice column.

It makes sense if you put, "The church does" after it. Which is its unspoken subtext.

I find myself in a similar situation Beth. What is it I really want? What should I do about it. Is this where I *should* be. Is there a should? I too may have a crippled mind, but not crippled so badly it can't be rehabilitated I think. So you're not alone there Beth. I'm still trying to adjust to a new paradigm too.

I need to give a tip of my hat to the so called church for one positive thing it gave me. The ability to delay gratification indefinitely. Self-mastery is perhaps the most difficult battle any of us will ever fight. I can proudly say that delayed gratification is a skill I've mastered. But this isn't a brag rag...anything can be taken too far and self-mastery can transmogrify from virtue to v

I kept one. Gave the rest to a non-LDS thrift store. If you see me wearing that one white shirt, ask me if I'm OK. Check if my pupils are dilated. Ask me where I am etc.

That's ridiculous. Anyone who has ever met you in person knows you're about the most together, likeable, stable guy in the world. So much so that my once TBM wife saw you and your family and you single handedly destroyed her false mental image of the exmo with 'issues' in her mind. She actually later said to me, " That I hidmyself guy and hid wife...I want to be like them." The subtext

1. I hate white shirts. 2. I like Johnny Cash. 3. I like Men in Black. 4. The Princess Bride was my favorite film growing up. 5. I actually tend to wear black. I ALWAYS wear black to sacrament meeting if I go. That's all of them.
