I do feel guilty because I had to learn how to say "I know the church is true" when I honestly did not 'know' at all. My only comfort is that retention rates are so low.

I was diagnosed with celiac spruce, so no wheat/gluten, in 2001 and so now I consider wheat the staff of death! It was also a good excuse to not take the sacrament.

When I went on my mission I learned how to say "I know this is true..." when I really did not 'know' at all. It was completely dishonest, to myself and all those people I said it to. To me it is acceptable to profess a belief in God/religion, a honest way of expression.

It has taken me a long time to get over all the guilt and regrets over my failings as a TBM. And it still lingers after 15 years of inactivity. I still retain the same moral code as I did as a TBM but now enjoy a cup of coffee now and then. I seem to be stuck between two worlds....I feel shunned by TBMs and I don't fit in with the regular world. Kind of lonely.

When I was a missionary so very long ago, we were instructed to ask the contact "If you pray and find these things to be true, will you be baptized?" on the FIRST discussion, in an effort to get an early commitment and speed things along. The tactic did not work that well but now that I have been inactive for fifteen years and now believe that the TSCC is false, I would like to ask TBMs
