I just started reading Rough Stone Rolling (Thank you, Steve). Chapter 2 talks about how Joseph Sr. and sons hired out for haying, harvesting, digging wells, etc... It says, "When the census taker came to the Smiths in 1820, Joseph Jr. was not listed, probably because he was living elsewhere earning during the growing season." So, there's a possibility that Joseph wasn't even living near the "sacred grove" when the supposed first vision happened? Does anyone have more info on this?...when the census taker(s) came through Palmyra, etc...?
