I can't see how this is going to help TSCC at all. They are saying that they were wrong when they were racists assholes before. Well yes that is true, they were wrong. BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT THEIR WRONGNESS CAME DIRECTLY FROM GOD. SO GOD WAS WRONG. How can this recent stance on racism help TSCC at all? I can see it furthering them sliding off the earth as a rekigion and just being a corporation, but I'm stumped. Way too many people have read way too much of their racist stuff from before (supposedly coming from God). Any ideas?

That isn't their stance.

They are throwing Brigham Young under the bus - saying he started the ban because he was influenced by the racist culture he was living within.

Of course that one answer creates several other uncomfortable questions:
1. Why didn't God intervene?
2. So God does allow prophets to lead His Church astray?
3. If BY can't be trusted to accurately portray doctrine, why should we trust the current leaders to do so?
4. If racist theories and ideas originated in 19th century culture, how did those same theories and ideas appear in the Book of Mormon, Moses and Book of Abraham?
