Did you ever feel spiritual as a Mormon?

I became more spiritual after I left.

I felt something akin to spiritual when singing a rousing hymn such as "For the Strength of the Hills" and others. But I feel the same thing when I hear the national anthem or a strong hymn from another denomination. I feel a cleaner spirituality when I'm in awe of the forest, sky, sea, or newborn baby though. These haven't got the baggage of dogma attached.

My greatest "spiritual" moment came when I was sitting on a front row pew, near center. It was when I admitted to myself for the first time that I did not believe any of it.

My greatest spiritual experience was a day next to the ocean when I realized I had a profound mystical experience without the help of music or a priesthood. Just by myself with the sea and the sky alone on a beach. It felt very natural, like this is how it was meant to be, not with fear or forced. With just being part of nature and all that's loving and good in the world.

The ocean is where it's at, anagrammy. I so agree.

I also became more spiritual after I left, before that I knew nothing about spirituality, Mormonism only taught/emphasized devotion, zeal, and fervor.
