Only referring to Jesus Christ as "the Saviour" or Satan as "the Adversary". Maybe it's just older TBMs that do it.

I know these aren't Mormon expressions, just regional dialect oddities, but I always hated listening to general conference and hearing Monson and the other GAs say words like "treasure", "measure", "pleasure", only they would pronounce them "tray-sure", "may-sure" and "play-sure". Ugh, that always made me cringe.

The Spirit of Contention

Godly Sorrow

Modest is Hottest

The Lords Anointed

The Father of the Ward

Non Member (referring to anyone, anywhere who isn't a Mormon)

Less Active Member (referring to people who would like to be left alone)

Dry Member (referring to people who are so good they should be baptized, but still haven't agreed to being dunked)

The Church

"The Lord"

I hate calling people "The" anything. His name is Jesus already. (Aramaic Yeshua)

If he never sought to be king or lord of any earthly establishment, (John 18:36, Luke 17:20-24) then why would it need to be restored and why would he be leading one now?

Wickedness never was happiness.

This was actually said to me by one of my children when I left the church.

I actually love that one! It's so illustrative of everything the church gets wrong.

I've pondered and studied out everything that's been said on this post and feel impressed to say that a still, small voice prompted me to agree, even in agreement.

AKA, a foolish consistency (Ralph Waldo Emerson)

AKA, stop thinking. (Thought-termination is cult mind-control)

AKA, trust in logical fallacies (how do we know the prophet won't lead us astray? because the prophet has told us he can't lead us astray!)

AKA, looks like you've had too much to think! ( https://c1.staticflickr.com/7/6226/6287582723_b8bf796c4b_z.jpg )

Gentiles (the older RFMers should remember this)

That is not necessary for your salvation (how true)

Apostasy (I don't believe falsehoods, I am not a category)

Nourish and strengthen our bodies (really?)

The C.K. (J.S. made up fantasy)

Comic relief... when kids say "I want to bury my testimony."

But, some adults have their moments. When they bear their testimony to the congregation, they'll say "in the name of THY SON, Jesus Christ." It would always prompt me to mutter "You're not talking to God. He isn't my son. Get a clue."
