Here's one of several questions I have never been able to settle in my head; According to BOM Jesus appeared to the folks living in the Americas, then went to heaven only to reappear as an infant to grow up and preach to those in the Middle East. Wouldn't Jesus' appearance in Bethlehem constitute his second coming. And any further appearance from Jesus in this era then be not the second coming, but rather the THIRD coming? I'm sure someone must have the answer, but every time I ask folks look at me like I'm speaking in Reformed Egyptian or something.

Actually, according to the BoM, Jesus' birth in the Middle East occurred BEFORE he visited the people living in the Americas.

Unless my memory is wrong, "Christ" only appeared
to the Brother of Jared (in Asia) and to Nephi
(in America, but in a dream). Can't recall about Lehi.

This seems a bit off the general track for eternal
progression to godhood, but no doubt the LDS polemicists
have figured out a way to reconcile this with the
more usual path to godhood.

According to the Book of Ether, Jesus Christ is the
God of the Americas -- no mention of Eloheim there.

Whatever the case may be, the LDS teach that the
first incarnation of Jehovah in a body of flesh and
blood, was at Jerusalem (Land of Jerusalem?) about
2000 years ago.

The "second coming," then, must have been at the
Bountiful Temple, c. 34 c.e.

The "third coming" will be at the Jackson County
Temple (and Jerusalem Temple) somewhere around
the year 1890, unless at least one member of
Joseph Smith's "generation" survives long past
that year.

After that, it all gets a bit confusing.
