I suggest the Dodo bird replaces Seagull.
And the state flower should be the corpse flower because of all the corpse dunking in those temples.

The corpse bird for the state flower seems very appropriate - but for more than its name's allusion to dead dunking.

Its exceptionally phallic profile nicely symbolizes the p-hood that runs the show in both TSCC and state government.

Dodos are extinct, which will hopefully become the status of TSCC very soon.

Nice nominations!

I concur with the vulture for state bird.
For state flower, I would nominate the dandelion because it represents Mormons in Utah quite well - it's everywhere and next to impossible to get rid of.

Please don't insult the dandelion. Think of all the fun young'uns get blowing their seeds.

For a Utah state cactus how about the Jumping cactus. Cholla.

Fits with Mormon mishies jumping out at you. The fact that there may not be any making it up to Utah from Arizona should not be a factor.

"How could a plant so nasty be so beautiful? Good question, and one more mystery of the desert. The plant (especially the Teddy Bear Cholla with its golden spines) is quite beautiful at sunrise and sunset. As the sun catches the tips of the spines, the plants radiate a cast of yellow, and look quite soft sometimes with an appearance of velvet. Add to this the pink flower it produces and the plant is delightful to look at ... but not touch."
