I knew that William Patrick Hitler -- Adolf's nephew -- was in the US Navy during the war but I'd never heard of Hermann's American (and Mormon!) nephew Werner who flew B-17s in Europe. He also had a co-pilot from Arizona with orders to shoot to kill to prevent him from falling into enemy hands alive. Have any of you ever heard about this? LD$, Inc. always likes the PR from celebrity Mormons but I'd imagine the Brethren wouldn't want people to know the Reichsmarschall's nephew was LDS.

P.S. -- Turns out like a lot of other stuff from SLC it turns out the story is not all what it seems. Werner's father Karl wasn't related to Hermann but falsely claimed that he was to improve his social standing amongst the local expatriate German community. The military also didn't know and Werner didn't know until the book's author told him in 2009.
