As my wife and I approach retirement we are very excited that we will be without the burden of payments to LDS Inc and without the emotional and time burden of callings, temple work or a mission. Just the money alone will make a big differnce in our vacations and allow us to give more to our kids and grandkids. We ski on Sunday instead of sitting in Sac Mtg with heads bowed thinking about all our "sins." We don't have any reason to feel bad or pretend because we don't commit any sins! Our life is so much more free in many ways and the world is lot bigger, including a taste of "sacramental wine" after skiing, golfing or whatever on Sunday.

How about a Sunday with skiing AND golf AND whatever!!!!

It's way possible here in SoCal, but skiing is no longer worth the risk to me. I'm too old and wobbly.

Could you still do it, Bro. Perky?

Elder Bednar and ELder Cook do NOT approve of this approach.

Just the fact that you don't have to plan on "serving" one day a week at the temple, or to waste one to two years of your retirement on a mission is life changing when you have planned on it your entire working life.

Never going to church again is priceless. No one appreciates Sunday like an exmo.

You have to taste the bitter to truly appreciate the sweet.

True dat!! Been out over a year and I still bring up to my wife every Sunday how much I love not going to church. Sunday went from the worst day of the week to the best.

Yes, had a real wake up call a few months back when a former stake president became a temple president. I just know that had we still been in the morg that we would undoubtedly be working there every day along side him. Yuck! Yuck! Yuck!
As it is we travel all summer long and will be enjoying Portugal this winter. We have also met many fascinating people that we would not have met had we stayed in such a tight and constrictive environment.

Congratulations!

It's a grand feeling to do what you want to do on the weekend.
