Program repeats at 7 PM then available via podcast.
News broke last week that the LDS Church was adopting new policies aimed at married same-sex couples and their children. Mormons in a same-sex marriage will now be considered apostates and could be subject to disciplinary hearings and excommunication. Their children, meanwhile, will be barred from many of the faith’s sacred rituals, unless they get permission from church’s highest leaders. Monday, a panel of guests will join us to discuss the impacts and ramifications of these new church policies.

Changes to LDS Handbook 1 Document 2 Revised 11-3-15 %28003%29

Policies on Ordinances for Children of a Parent Living in a Same-Gender Relationship
The following additions to
Handbook 1
have been approved by the Council of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for immediate implementation.

A new section in
Handbook 1, 16.13 will be added as follows: Children of a Parent Living in a Same-Gender Relationship
A natural or adopted child of a parent living in a same-gender relationship, whether the couple is married or cohabiting, may not receive a name and a blessing. A natural or adopted child of a parent living in a same-gender relationship, whether the couple is married or cohabiting, may be baptized and confirmed, ordained, or recommended for missionary service only as follows: A mission president or a stake president may request approval from the Office of the First Presidency to baptize and confirm, ordain, or recommend missionary service for a child of a parent who has lived or is living in a same-gender relationship when he is satisfied by personal interviews that both of the following requirements are met:1.

The child accepts and is committed to live the teachings and doctrine of the Church, and specifically disavows the practice of same-gender cohabitation and marriage.2.

The child is of legal age and does not live with a parent who has lived or currently lives in a same-gender cohabitation relationship or marriage.

An additional proposal for the LDS Church, All Children of Apostates shall not be baptized unless they renounce their parents.

Run the children through the worthiness catechism:
Do you affiliate with any group or individual whose teachings or practices are contrary to or oppose those accepted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or do you sympathize with the precepts of any such group or individual?

Exactly. This is the basis for the new policy, distance children of non-believers from the children of TBM's.

Part member families. Families where one or both parents don't attend. Also, children under the age of 18 should no longer be candidates for the missionaries if the investigator's parents are non-members.

D. Todd Whatever stated that TSCC was attempting to remove children from conflict in the home, where parental teachings are not in harmony with church teachings.

Well shit Todd... That applies in too many other circumstances for you to use it as the bases for your discrimination of children who's parents are LGBT.

I know, I know!

What if you are born into a home in which one or both parents refuse to serve Jello?

That is too grievous a sin to ponder.

Someone should add this to the radio in Utah https://soundcloud.com/user-955772405/cause-your-daddy-loves-your-daddy - from another thread.
