Last evening, we received a knock at the front door. I caught the tale end of the door-way conversation as my 18 year old daughter was saying, "My mom isn't home, and I don't think she is LDS anymore."
Turns out it was my wife's visiting teachers, who popped in for a surprise visit, i.e. no appointment, etc. They and the mishes continue to come once a month like this.
Would I be out of line if I greeted a Mormon at my front door with signs, sayings, and tokens of the temple?
For instance, would I be wrong to give the 1st and 2nd handshakes of the Aaronic priesthood or even the sign of the nail?
Would I be silly to say, "Hey guys, Pay Lay Ale to you (esp on St Pat's day)?
Would it be out of line to say when they identify me as, Brother Brown, to respond by saying, "I am not brother brown to you (and in a dramatic voice yell) - PLEASE CALL CALEB WHICH IS MY TEMPLE NAME?"
Would I be out of line to quickly put on my temple clothes including the green apron, bakers hat, and white robe - and then answer the door by saying "What is wanted?"
Am I wrong? Do they deserve it?
