My emotional development has been.

P.S. As for jail, yes, but only as a juvenile. Curfew violation, truancy, stealing food (charges dropped when they saw how poor and hungry I was), running away ( first ride in a police car at four-and-a-half years of age).

Yes! It was glorious, but only in retrospect. I didn't call anyone because by the time they booked me in, it was after midnight. So I got to have breakfast in the county lock up, French toast, eaten with a big spoon. This was in Las Vegas, NV, before the consolidation of the LVPD and the Clark County Sheriff.

The decision to arrest me was made by a patrol sergeant who, in retrospect, thought I was sassing him. When he asked me where I was the previous night, I answered the simple truth, "On a date with the mayor's daughter."

That was the truth, but I understand why the Sgt. would think it unlikely that a skinny Mexican with thick glasses was telling the truth. Rather than being with the mayor's daughter, he figured I was the guy (skinny Mexican kid with thick glasses) who held up a gas station.

Shirley Gragson confirmed my "alibi" and I never heard another word about it. But even before that, the Under Sheriff, the patriarch who'd given me my PB, had ordered me sprung, once my bishop got in touch with him.

Going to jail when you know you can prove your innocence is just an inconvenient adventure.

Once. Orem jail. Pot.

Decided to return home to the parents who judged me more than loved me. But they cared enough to mold me into a missionary and then provide a roof for college. All with Mormonism as a requirement of course.

Mormonism rather too easily replaced weed and alcohol. I wonder why?

Thankfully not. The Honor Nazi at Ricks would have liked to.

Got arrested by a Canadian SWAT team and locked up in Tronto West Detention Center. All orchestrated by my senior police officer brother and SP of the Belfast Ireland Stake.
Two days inside the Inmates were told I was an Ex cop. Had to fight for my life everyday for two weeks until this Satans Choice biker turned up in my range and confronted me. When I explained to him that I was a ex UDR soldier and not a cop. By something of a miracle he knew exactly who the UDR were and was a big surporter. He announced to the wing that I was not a cop and two weeks later I got released.

Writing a book about it called 30 Days in the West. It follows my first book titled A Moral Vendetta about my earlier life in Belfast and my work for British Military Intelligence. My journey into the Mormon Church and my journey out of it again. Otherwise nope never arrested before.

When my daughter's scum of the earth boyfriend threw my daughter down the stairs and broke her wrist, I went into "mom tiger" mode. I went to slimy boyfriend's house and threatened to kill him if he didn't leave my daughter alone. He had violated his restraining order by even being there. He thought I had a fake gun to scare him but it was real, just small.

I got arrested for Aggravated assault. I was a school teacher at the time. The fellow persons in the jail started to tease me [because I looked like a school teacher!] They asked me if I was in for jaywalking or breaking curfew or some other silly violation. When I answered "Aggravated assault" they backed up. It was so weird. I only had one person I wanted to kill. Those people had nothing to worry about!

Since I had no previous record and after telling what he did to my daughter and her telling them about it, the charges got dropped to brandishing a weapon during a quarrel, which was a misdemeanor rather than a felony so that was good.

We had to move out of Utah to get away from the slimy F*CKER though, My hubby and I moved first so our daughter would have a place to go when slimy got the way he got. Shortly after we moved, our daughter moved here with us (BYE UTAH AND SLIMY TOO!) So he was out of the picture, but he kept threatening to come to where we are and beat us up etc. He was just a piece of scum off the bottom of the toilet. I suggested he kill himself and after several months he did!

We had quite the party about his death! It exactly like removing the garbage from our lives. After a few years, my record was completely cleared so I have no record at all now, misdemeanor or anything!! Hurray!

A few years back, I drew my pistol when a road-rage case followed me into a parking lot, parked next to me, and began to approach me on foot. He was about 1/3 my age and considerably bigger. And yelling ugly insults and threats.

I got into a firing stance and clearly meant business. I told him to get back into his car and move on down the road. Fortunately, he did.

Would I have actually shot him if he hadn't stopped? Yes. That's a decision you have to make if you decide to carry a firearm. You don't wait until you are actually in danger, because that split-second of indecision can cost you.

The main thing I was worried about is that my concealed-carry permit was long-expired. I have years of experience at the firing range, with this particular pistol. The guy was maybe ten feet away from me. I don't believe I would have missed.

I wouldn't have drawn if I didn't believe that I was in danger. The guy was acting like such a belligerent asshole before we even parked that I had every reason to believe that he intended harm.

I hope that since then, he has learned to think twice before getting nasty with little old ladies.

Anon4thisOne:

"Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it," as they say. But if you have it, and need it, do you dare unholster?

I had a situation like that out-of-state. I simply unholstered and displayed it, pointing it at the ground. My adversary backed off, but his friend (who didn't have a good viewpoint) called the local cops and said I was waving it around, a pure lie. The local cops preferred to side with the local yocals as opposed to taking the word of an out-of-state cop. The county prosecutor later summoned me in for "Dangerous Conduct With a Firearm" -- a felony. No arrest, but it was pretty ugly, and sure messed me up with my local department.

If you ever display a weapon in a manner which can be interpreted as having intention to use, it's best that YOU take the initiative, call local police first, explain the situation, and be sure to have all your credentials in order and ready to produce. Take pictures of other people's faces, their license plates, positions of cars, etc. They may object, but it's completely legal if it's in a public space.

I guess it comes down the Zimmerman-Martin case: "Just how beat up do you have to be to clearly establish that YOU are the victim?"

So around 40 years ago I'm driving from Provo to Orem and get
pulled over for an expired tag. The tag (March) had JUST
expired that day. So the Cop asks for my license and I realize
I don't have my wallet with me. I'd been running and was in my
sweats. However, it turns out that I have a previous ticket in
Orem that hadn't been taken care of so I was arrested and put
into the Orem jail.

I was allowed my phone call, so I called a friend and asked him
to break into my house through a window I knew was unopened,
get my wallet and bring it to me so I could pay my fine and get
out.

Have you ever called someone and told them to do something this
crazy on April 1?

Fortunately my friend Didn't think it was an April Fool's joke
and brought my wallet. I paid my fines and went home.

No, but pretty much everyone I know has. Not all are bad people, but some definitely are. Most just made dumb decisions in their youth.

I only get bailed out if I get arrested on a civil disobedience charge as per my sister, so maybe someday?

Unfortunately, I was when my ex-husband convinced police that I slapped him, but it was in self defense after he swung at me. I didn't even leave a mark as it was an open handed slap after I got upset that he got a picture of me as I was grabbing the towel as I got out of the shower. First, I threw the disposable camera, so it broke and he couldn't develop that nude picture, then when he tried to hit me, I slapped him.

Eventually, the judge realized that it was self-defense, so I was able to do a plea bargain where for a no contest plea, I just got a couple of years of informal probation, and the chance to get my record expunged. Now, for background checks, it just says the charge was dismissed. I wasn't a violent person, nor am I to this day, as it was just a matter of my ex provoking me to the point where I just snapped. At least when I snapped, I just open hand slapped him.

#1 son & I were involved in a minor tussle.. No fists, but DW called the police who 'had to' arrest me because of focus on Domestic Violence....Spent 1 awful nite in the K.C. jail in Seattle; the Bp came to bail me out, but bail hadn't been set; I was PR'd out that morning...

I sued for False Arrest / Unlawful detainment against the county (KING) & won a few bucks, about $3,500.

this was YEARS ago, & they were supposed to expunge the record; I guess I should check to see if that was done/completed.

Drunk and disorderly conduct. I had a fake ID, across the country from my TBM family. I was having an amazing time drinking, dancing, laughing... When I was arrested with 40 other people my porn shoulders, porn arms, boobs, porn stomach, legs, and a lot of my rear was on display for anyone who cared to look.

I loved college!!!!

I had a judge threaten at least twenty times in one day to arrest me for contempt. My client was found "not guilty" by the jury despite the judge - taking about thirty minutes to deliberate. My client had been framed. I had to go to the hospital immediately because of the effect on my heart condition. Note that I have never lost a criminal jury trial.

Yep, came home to find my very TBM wife in bed with a non-Mormon class mate. I threatened him, and then called his wife, who reported to the police, "the man (meaning me) said that if my husband every came back to the family home, he would beat him up." The police called me up and ask me if it were true, "I said, yes" to which they replied, "well you're under arrest for phone harassment" I was arrested under a city bench warrant and made to pay a $25.00 fine. That began my journey out of Moville. Exwife still very much a TBM. Go figure.
