Can someone explain the, uh, foliage going on on stage? WTF is up with all of the grass? It looks awful. Who thought it was a good idea?

Wheat grass. Tommy is mixing smoothies during the break.

Let's be honest, Good Ole Tom isn't doing much of anything these days. You might be right about the smoothie idea though- I'm sure most of his nutrition comes through a straw these days.

Poor guy. Can you imagine? Living the strict, boring righteous life and living out your last days like this? Just leave him to spend his remaining time with dignity behind closed doors with his family.

YEAH WTF IS WITH THAT?! They have that at every church and it's weird as hell. I've never seen it done like that at such a huge scale anywhere else. Maybe it represents how they're lost in a forest of idiocy?

Is it cheap? It looks awful, and seems like it would be terrible to deal with. (I keep thinking of the spiders... Maybe they count any spiders that crawl out of it as converts?)

I just don't get it.

At the churches it's fake, but I'd assume at salt lake they just have gardeners hired to maintain it. And the spiders would be great converts cause they'd catch everyone "fly"ing away (sorry lol)

"Lost in a forest of idiocy." That has to be the symbolism behind it. Great metaphor!

They like to have all that grass around because their ass is grass and they know it!

It looks like a cemetery and the speaker right now (the German? guy is on my screen- I had it paused for a bit) is standing in a grave with his head poking out.

Decent metaphor I guess...

Brothers and sisters......any day above the grass is one more precious day to give thanks to our kind and gracious Hebbenly Fodder.

I hope they haven't been smoking it--although that would explain a lot.

(Or maybe it's the plot where they've buried the truth?)

I have not watched one moment of conference so I have not seen the grass. I do know grass grows very well when there is a lot of shlt spread in it and I expect there is a lot of shlt being spewed out of the mouths of the a hole speakers.

What a shltty thing for me to write. Sounds like the manure field is growing at TSCC.

I noticed that too. They probably wanted to keep the background simple behind the speaker for the camera. It was more of a distraction...and ugly.

Oh, I was wrong. I was watching the choir.

God, that stuff is ugly and pointless.

It is symbolic. It is a sub-conscious message to all, that Mormons are in charge of "the grass," and there will be no passing of a medical marijuana bill within the state of Utah until they are the ones that say so.

I betcha they went for economy. I´ve read mention of how much having flowers there where the grass is now, costs! They probably got the grass for free, simply by making it a calling.

That's fine... they don't need to cover every last inch with foliage, though! Just leave it empty. Put some nice, modest arrangements up there (and hell, use fake, no one will be able to tell) and let the beautiful wood shine. What they chose to do just looks ridiculous.

Considering that some of them look like they've got one foot in the grave at this point, the grass could remind them of a cemetery.

It's to remind the brain dead leaders that it is April-Spring Conference.

Come October, they will bring in some oak trees with dead leaves to remind them of Fall.

When I first saw it, I thought I'd see Easter eggs scattered across throughout.

"How fun!" I cried. "Someone had a cute idea this year."

I was wrong.
