My wife is very intolerant of arrogant people who think they know a lot, but really don't.

She has a great line that she uses, which, adapted to that kind of Mormon would be:

"Well, I understand now why you are a Mormon - it's because of your low I.Q."

Oh I bet that goes over really well. That is great. I'd like to

see the look on people's faces when she calls them out like

that.

I'd be seeking a different Quotient... There are many Intelligent mormons.

S.Q. Status Quotient ...doesn't quite work...

S.Q. Stupor Quotient ... closer?

D.P. Dependency Quotient?

Mormonism feels good, and if it feels good do it. That seems like a reliable way to live your life.

Senior missionary: You appear to be highly intelligent.
Me: I am.
Sm: Intelligence is worthless if it keeps you from God.
Me: So you are telling me that I have to lower my IQ to believe in God.

"Me: So you are telling me that I have to lower my IQ to believe in God."

That reminds me of what a fellow ward member told me when I first started researching the true history of the church about 20 years ago. She said "If you keep studying that stuff, you're gonna study your way out of the church!"

She was right.

Just politely ask them if they have educated themselves on cult tactics...

I.Q. has no connection to wisdom.

Joseph Goebbles had a Ph.D.

Utah ranks 49 out of 50 for lowest average IQs.
I think it was missippi or louisiana finishing in lowest place.

Dave, as much as I like to bag on Utah, that's just not true. Utah ranks in the middle at #24. You're correct on Louisiana & Mississippi.

Dave,

Where did you read that? I have been searching and can't find anything to substantiate Utah being a low IQ state. It seems to fall in the middle of the states in most of the studies I've been able to find.

During the frenzy of the dot-com bubble in the late '90s I lived in San Francisco. A good friend, a man who had worked hard his whole life and amassed some savings, asked me if he should take his money and buy a house.

Oh yes, I assured him, that's the smart thing to do, and the sooner the better, because housing prices especially here in San Francisco always go up. He took my advice. A few months later the bubble burst, prices plummeted, and he was underwater and insolvent.

I'm an idiot. As if I needed more proof, I converted to Mormonism as an adult. Realizing the extent of my stupidity and becoming an exmo was the other shoe dropping.

I hope my arrogent, know-it-all Mormon brothers and sisters some day experience the same thing. If and when the scales fall from their eyes, they'll thank the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for inadvertently teaching them a bit of humility, as ironic as that is.
