I just returned from a trip to Paris with Drdad and our 2 oldest grandchildren. As great good fortune would have it, we met a friend in the waiting area for the outbound flight. Olivier Delaporte, widow of Kerry Rutz aka XYZ aka Flattop was on the same flight. We know him because we knew his husband from here on RFM. Olivier has never been a mormon, but we are connected to him through RFM.

During the trip we met Soft Machine, who signs off as “Tom in Paris.” What a delightful man! I had reached out to see if he might meet for coffee while we were there. Instead, he and his wife and older daughter met us for lunch and took us on an amazing tour that we would not have thought to do on our own.

We enjoyed each other so much that we met again for dinner and another amazing tour. We had no idea there was a Roman amphitheater not far from where we were staying! Tom is also a nevermo, connected via a friend who was a former scientologist.

We have had some amazing meetings and friendships with people we have met through RFM. To Eric K and Sus, other admins and all of you – thanks for being there.

To Tom and Anne and Louise – thanks again. Granddaughter commented after you left, “I just love being with them, even when I wasn’t in the conversation. They seem so full of happiness.” I hope Louise has found the perfect skirt in Istanbul!

Have met several people IRL from RfM, including Msmom! So sad I don't go to the Boston area anymore.

Weren't you the one who tried to make it sound more scandalous the day after it happened?

I've met no one from here but if anyone is in the Kansas City Area I would love to meet some like-minded black sheep. My digital contact address is in my profile here.

Maybe we exmo's will all get our own planet together.
Now that would be fun!!

:D

Who gets to be the god of said planet?

It would be one of the planets where a new god gets elected every week and all of them have contracts which require them to see how many nice things they can do for everyone else during their terms of office.

Sundays are election days, and and after that 60-second activity, everybody goes on picnics in their favorite parks. Which include
sports venues of all sorts.

Let's reorganize some (things that) matter and make a world for non-Mo's!

Thought about trying to get a Four Corners exmo meet-up, but I'm pretty busy already. Of course, there's no shortage of meeting exmos in the Happy Valley counter-culture scene. :D

Sounds like a fun trip!

I hope Louise is OK if she's in Turkey given today's events in that country.

Terrific that you enjoyed yourself in Paris. I have also been fortunate to visit....the Mona Lisa, the top of the Eiffel Tower, the lovely night boat ride, and especially the French bread and amazing cuisine. It was divine.

What a great story.
I'm hoping to meet up with Tom next summer, when I finally take my wife on my long-promised trip to Paris :)

Looking forward to meeting you

We were in Paris last week and also met up with an exmormon who has posted on RfM! Chanson/C.L. Hanson came from Zurich and we hung out in Paris for the day. Part of our tour included "The Kiss" at the Rodin Museum that was banned at BYU years ago. Also lots of yummy food, wine, espresso, etc. Paris is very good therapy for recovering Mormons. Glad you had such a nice time, msmom, wish we could have all hung out together. I love you and Olivier and would have liked to have met "Tom in Paris" and family. Such good friendships have been forged here. :)

Awesome stories. Never met anyone from here, but have from some other forums (guitar and piano). The things people have in common bring them together!

He met a nice man named Dan. They live together in Jamaica Plain, nearby to Dan's grandchildren, who he (Dan) cares for after school. They are a lovely couple and seem very happy together.

I'm glad Olivier hasn't forgotten the exmos he met.

Glad you enjoyed Paris, the grandchildren and seeing old and new friends. Well done.

I'd just like to say how much we enjoyed meeting the beautiful Msmom, her lovely husband and two of her grandchildren, both of whom were fine examples of American youth, very well behaved and interesting in their own right. Frankly, it was an honour - they are all so nice - and very interesting, too. We had a great time with them.

Thanks Msmom and Doug for a what my wife called "une VRAIE rencontre".

We promise to come to Chelmsford when we make it over to the States (one day).

Love to all and hurrah for RfM!
