Other than the "trial" version, I don't believe you can.

There may be knockoff versions on the Internet, but beware because they're more likely than not loaded with viruses and malware to infect your computer.

If you need something comparable to that and that is free, try using Google Docs. It's reliable and will get you the storage and access to making documents that Microsoft Word does, for free.

I don't know Anon2. I believe it's in the "cloud." You have your own page, and set up for your contacts, pictures, e-mail, etc. And your Google Docs are there too. So whatever computer you use, you can always access your Google from it.

It isn't in your hard drive, unless there's a way to save your documents to your hard drive.

I've never needed Microsoft Word. When I've needed to type a document I've defaulted to Google Doc. And it's served me fine.

It's user friendly.

There is an open source work processor in a suite called LibreOffice. LibreOffice is distributed with most Linux desktop distributions. It does fairly well making Microsoft formatted document files. The big issue for Linux users are the fonts. Since you have windows already, that would not be an issue.

Works on PCs, emulates and opens MS Office files

http://www.openoffice.org

It's free, open source software.

"How does one access files on the hard drive etc on it??"

If you don't know how to do this, I would advise caution when trying.

What operating system are you using?

I was asking that about Google doc. I'm on Windows 10.

Win10 hides your documents in "libraries."

Operating files are still on the local drive (usually C) but many are hidden by default are hidden for system protection.

I don't believe that Google docs reside on your PC, but on a remote Google server. I've never been comfortable with Google security, and have never used Google docs, except to acces files that others have shared.

If you are trying to save a Google doc to your PC and open it locally:

You can get a cracked copy of Word from one of the torrent sites but watch out for viruses. I use Open Office on all my Windows machines without any problems.

I have suggested LibreOffice, others have suggested OpenOffice.

They are related software packages. Here's the scoop. I've used LibreOffice on Linux for a long time. It also works on Windows. I have not tried Apache OpenOffice.
