The most important day in the world yet why don't we know?

Since all things LDS revolve around ancestor worship and recreating important dates and deaths in Mormon history....

why don't we know what day ...(which is in my opinion if it happened) what exact day The big man and his son showed up in New York

please step in with your opinion

I think that's an excellent question. If I were visited by a heavenly personage, the date would be forever imprinted upon my calendar.

The short version of the story -- it didn't happen.

It's comically ridiculous.

A MOMENTOUS event like God visiting you occurs and you don't remember when it happened?

Details make up after the fact to form the story don't cut it.

So agree with your observation. Joey changed his story, forgot his story, did not instantly share his story......all details that just do not make sense, you know, unless the story was made up and never really happened.

I believe Joey, being doted on by his Mom especially, as the spiritual savior of their tilting family, found he could get all sorts of accolades from his fantastic imagination and .....what's just as noteworthy, he could get out of pushing the plow.

Joey loved and always took the "easy" road.

God has no interest in dates.

The word date doesn't exist in any bible.

A trillion years is as significant to him as a half-sized speck of dust is to the greatest geologist.

The inescapable fact is that god and jesus appeared to joseph and he accurately recorded the event in precise detail.

For this deed, he was chased through every territory he tried to govern, until his once-closest friends finally won in a jail shoot-out.

You can't get millions of up early every Sunday and smile at each other for three hours, without truth.

Families don't send off their youth to distant lands just for show.

Careful thought will erase all doubt.

Even Richard Dawkins has confessed that he has read the Book of Mormon.

Yes. It was March 30th, 1969. The year the "Amazing Mets" went from a perennial major losing joke of a team, to go and defeat the Oriels to win the world series. Jesus also blessed the arms of Nolan Ryan, Tom Seaver & Tug McGraw(Country music's Tim McGraw's Dad).

No, it was August 17, 1969. Woodstock, NY. Participants were too stoned to remember.

You're right. A lot of people saw god at Woodstock.

I have learned by cautious search that there exist some very elegant sites that share the glorious forms which God hath created to delight the souls of men.

I have discovered that the young women who appear natural, happy, service-oriented and generous bring me great joy.

Furthermore, I bear my witness that I seldom enjoy such without the deep gratitude for the perfection that is the female form at its season of optimal fertility.

Porn, like any other tool, is what you make of it. As for me, it is a constant reminder of how I came here, how I may bring others to enjoy life, and how I may be of greater service to my wife.

It is a remarkably recent event not to have been recorded more precisely, considering the data we have concerning what took place on what day in the wars that happened on the American continent, and all the specific information we have in regard to the founding of the U.S. nation.

Well, I'd say that it's a complex issue what with the calendar changing, confusion about whether our calendar is even "correct" (was there even a Jesus to base it off of?; our "months" as we know them have only been around since the Romans... etc. etc., but God told Joseph Smith that Christ was born on April 6th, so I guess He could have cleared that one up too. Good question.

Because the Father and the Son never placed their feet upon New York soil, he refused to write the date, as they never literally, fully arrived.

NOTE: If you hover along the ceiling of any American airport, you can pass by all security without interference or delay.

Because liars have trouble remembering the details of a story they tell a couple of times, and what they told to who.

I have thought about this before and I started thinking about it some more. Has anyone ever thought that JS was a sexualized kid who, later maturing, wanted to get it on with multiple women? I guess along with his thirst for personal glory, he wanted to throw polygamy in there somewhere to "legitimize" his behavior. Have you ever thought that Martin Harris plotted in this whole scam with JS?

I think he was trying to see how far he could push it. Always looking for the next opportunity to top himself. It's a testament to 19th century tolerance that he got as far as Carthage.

You would think this day would be celebrated, since it *is* the most important day in the modern history of the world--the day that GOD and JESUS CHRIST came to visit.

(Well, you know, the most important day besides Smithmas...)

It's not Joe's fault. It's Jesus who had been coy about such details ever since, say, ~40 AD (give or take two decades).

What an incredible and valid point you make. Why didn't anyone think of that before! :)

An event of seeing God and his Son would certainly have a date, day and even a time attached to it.

I thought all the red flags were out there, but just today discovered yet another one, here on RFM, thanks for that.

Actually, you'd think an apologist would say that if JS worked up a lie, he would added an exact date to make it seem more authentic.

There was an article about 10 years ago where someone tried to figure it out.

Ah, here it is:
