I always figured they just got bored and figured we should be able to figure it out...
Ofcourse I'm mostly familiar with liberal lutheranism and there it seems they don't believe in any rapture at all. They are not waiting for Christ to come literally, they mean that the spread of christian virtues, ethics and cooperation IS the second coming. That is Christ coming into the lives of people a "second" time when they start to believe and change their behavior accordingly.
So yes, all who believe in a literal rapture are simply put fundamentalist nut-jobs!
