I the fact my DW now thinks she wants to be cremated a sign that she is freeing her mind from the double bind?

That is a pretty bold decision for a TBM.

'Enlightenment' comes one step at a time.

To realize our 'human body' is not really us and only similar to a suit of clothes to be eventually discarded is real progress! Whether she gets 'cremated' or not is up to her.

It is interesting how enlightenment happens ----- one area at a time when it is needed.

Actually, enlightenment often happens in one fell swoop. Everyone who had their "shelf" collapse in a few hours or less, raise your hand.

Thank you.

A slow dawning of enlightenment often happens too. Opting for cremation I think qualifies. Don't worry, be happy, as the song says.

This is a good sign. Give her some positive feedback about her decision such as talking about embalming fluid leaching into ground water, and resources spent (wood, metal, etc.) spend on our culture's death rituals.

Mormons don't like cremation, so yes, it's a good sign.
