Comes to me from a friend who is active and believing. Also a Food Inspector of some kind.
Lesson on consecrating Olive Oil for blessings - and the process.
They brought out a jug of "Extra Virgin Olive Oil" and started talking about it and the process. He pointed out that what they bought was a Blend, and was not Pure Olive Oil. Was in fact a major brand that FDA apparently has been trying to nail for mislabeling. Add in California Olive Oil Council has tested it and flunked it as a blend - an the meeting went downhill from there.
Didn't help matters when he pointed out it was in a clear bottle/plastic jug - and Pure oils are generally in dark bottles to protect the oil from deleterious effects of sunlight on it.
Some didn't care. Others did not want to pay for the real deal. Some said it had to be real because the label said it was.
Suffice it to say - no consecration and no little vials filled that Sunday.
They did get into arguing that the Oil really didn't matter. This got the scriptorians into D&C & the revealed word in print.
I know he did not help when he asked 'if it doesn't matter, can I use the can of 3in1 oil from my tool kit"? (asked jokingly - sarcastic - but many took it seriously)
So - what gives in the search for the real deal and does it have to be used? Quotes from TheBrethren on it. maybe? Most likely all blown away by Brigham Young having used consecrated Olive Oil for Enemas. Would almost be worth attending with him on a Sunday if the topic was sure to come up so I could get that one in.

The above from Mormon Discussions site.
The real questions are WHY olive oil and if it is not Pure - what does it really matter? If it is supposed to be Pure and is in Reality a blend - per LDS Leadership will it make a difference? If not - why the emphasis on Purity?
Or is it a lot like a totally unworthy child rapist baptizing someone into LDS membership - when he is found out they don't do a re-baptism. So, why the big deal about "Priesthood authority" ?
So much of this type of BS in the LDS world it makes reality into cartoon life. Like 'translation' with a Urim and Thummim that was really done with a magic peepstone in a hat!
The reality of LDS is that is is a world of lies.
