I submitted my resignation via e-mail (per instructions here on RfM) back in mid-May. About a week later I received a letter in the mail saying it was a local matter and that my letter would be forwarded to the SP and the Bish (even though I stated to keep the matter confidential and did not want to be contacted by ANYONE). Thanks a lot. So now who knows where that letter is floating around!!!
That letter got me all fired up and then I went to the website where you can resign via a lawyer (Q U I T Mormon). I submitted resignation again, just to be sure and cover all bases. This squeaky wheel will get greased!
As of today, I received an e-mailed copy (that tssc sent to the lawyer) that I am officially resigned. Hooray!!!
All in all, it took 3 weeks. But really only 2 weeks via the lawyer, as I don't know what became of the e-mail resignation. During the last 3 weeks I've been waiting for the other shoe to drop...as in wrathful nastiness from my parents. They haven't made a single peep. For those who haven't followed my story, my dad is the ward clerk in the ward I'm 'supposed to be in'. So there's no way he's not going to find out. My TBM parents have always made me feel like a criminal over leaving their so-called church.
As I read the e-mail I couldn't help notice that the date, today's date, has some significance for me. It was today, 20 years ago that I started my first full-time job, which ultimately allowed me the financial means to move out of my parents' house and in effect leave Mormonism. Today is poetic for me. Today is a great day to be an exmo.
