Four women en route from Salt Lake City to an outdoor concert in Ogden, Utah, were chided by a train worker for going to the restroom together in an exchange that was caught on video.

The friends had a habit of doing things in a group for their safety, Lexi Beckstead told The Washington Post. This was especially true while on trains run by Utah Transit Authority, which Beckstead said has a reputation for having suspicious riders. Camille Hoerner and a woman who could not be identified went first and saw no signage notating a “one person per stall” rule, according to Beckstead.

It is a "girl" thing for exact reason they stated. Safety in numbers. I'm in my 60's and my friends and I still do that.

Back when I was in junior high, the administration decided to remove the doors from toilet stalls because "some" kids were smoking (tobacco) in the bathrooms.

My best friend and I were appalled, so in order to provide each other some degree of privacy, one would use the facility while the other stood at the entryway to the stall, (facing away, of course,) while holding jackets spread wide to cover as much of the opening as possible. This caught on, and other sets of BFFs began doing it, too.

Other girls just "held it," and urinary tract infections began running rampant. Parents started raising hell, and whaddya know - admin. put the stall doors back on!!

There can be perfectly valid reasons for "herd" behavior.
