When I publicly blew the whistle on Oaks in 1993 for comfortably lying about his fellow Mormon hit-man Boyd K. Packer-orchestrated excommunication of Salt Lake author Paul Toscano, dastardly Dallin determined that I had failed in my then-LDS obligation to believe and follow non-folksy Oaksy as a high Mormon Church leader. Oaks expected me to cover for him after he blatantly lied in the open about what he and I had talked about behind closed doors in the offices of the Church Administration Building.

In an on-the-record interview with an "Arizona Republic" newspaper reporter, Paul Brinkley-Rogers, Oaks shamelessly misrepresented the truth about Packer’s involvement in the excommunication of Toscano--who had attracted scowling Church attention for, among other things, suggesting that members need not perpetuate a Cult of Personality by standing up when General Authorities walked into the room.

When I eventually called out Oaks for his lies, he went to the Church-owned "Deseret News" to respond thusly: "Time wounds all heels/" Here's how the Mormon Church's house organ reported it:

"Sitting in his office in the LDS Church administration building, Elder Dallin H. Oaks carefully reads a news report that says he admitted to 'falsely telling' a journalist he had no knowledge of an event involving the excommunication of a Church member. 'Life isn't fair,' Elder Oaks said. 'Somebody said that time heals all wounds. But it's also true that time wounds all heels,' he added in jest."

("Elder Oaks Says News Story 'Seriously Distorted' Facts," by Matthew S. Brown, Staff Writer, Deseret News, 16 October 1993)

"Jest," my eye. Oaks just got busted.

How apostolic.

How Christ-like.

How dishonest.

How Oaks.

Oaks reminds me of an old Paul Simon song. Still crazy after all these years.

He and fellow charlatan Joe Smith were separated at birth but forever joined at the hip. Oaks is simply too mean to die.

Dallin H Oaks is a self-absorbed dweeb. I remember he came up to Idaho telling the members to vote NO! on the state lottery. Well I was against the lottery myself but what business is it of Elder Oaks wasn't a resident of the state. When world got out the Mormons were getting involved in our state politics it really pissed a lot of non-members off and it only brought more people out for the vote. Oaks actually promoted what he hopped to stop.

That's how gay marriage (which I'm all for) became the law of the land.

yah, well that is just the piddling little really not very important lottery deal, then there is medical cannabis where the MORmON ASSpostHOLES feel completely entitled and justified in depriving millions of people from the medicinal properties /benefits of cannabis INCLUDING THE VERSIONS THAT ARE NOT PSYCHOACTIVE on their fanciful whim.

IF I had my way, those uppity MORmON ASSpostHOLES would NEVER ever have access to ANY medication from here on out. they can completely do with OUT any medication since that is what they want for others in some regard.

One of the worse old unwritten laws of the gospel: "lying for the Lord" is still pervasive. I ran into it, way too many times in my 35 + years as a member. Add that to an inflated male ego with a God complex and away they go.
Amazingly, one time a bishop admitted he lied, (did other bizarre stuff later, though), another time a male teacher came to my home to apologize.

Soon, I won't recognize any of the LDS top leaders! Maybe, that will be an improvement. I can always hope, at least, for my friends and relatives that are members.

One of the reasons I'm so glad that I am no longer a member is because they no longer get my tithing money to pay these liars

That whole "rising when they enter" thing is a painful memory to me after attending BYU and seeing so many hundreds of students rise when church leadership entered the Marriott Center. Now I think it's kind of sickening because they never deserved it.

I remember when Vice President Cheney gave a graduation speech at BYU, and after he gave a talk in the Marriott Center, everyone rose and gave him a standing ovation (being stauch conservatives and all for the most part). In the end only Hinckley was left sitting down, and finally he (perhaps begrudgingly) rose and applauded as well. I got the sense that he felt that people standing and applauding was an honor only he should have, not Cheney.

The world will be a brighter place after he's gone. I'm throwing a party and I don't even celebrate birthdays.
