"Keep your covenants and you will be safe. Break them and you will not." ~ Boyd "The Plastic Shaman Factory Foreman" Packer

(in Conference Report, Oct. 1990, 107–8; or Ensign, Nov. 1990, 84).

"Fear makes the wolf bigger than he is."
---- German Proverb

Or the plastic shaman bigger.

But he’s dead. Must not have been keeping his covenants.

Yeah, he was working the factory on the sly.

Just wanted to let you know I get a posting itch ever week when I'm able to email with my daughter.

It galls me that Packer could talk about safety as his organization continues to send young people out in the world as if his safety is some sort of insane guarantee.

My daughter is still alive and enjoying life down in Central America and is currently teaching a 90 year old man who gets annoyed if they are late to their appointments. Sheesh.

Hey, the old guy probably doesn't have much time left, so he doesn't want to waste what little he's got sitting around waiting for mishies. I get that...:)

Sure, maybe the old guy will get baptized.

But the odds are he's just looking for a little company, so he can tell his stories. He's probably told his stories to tens of pairs of elders and sisters. It's likely he's a real pro at milking the missionaries for attention.

Did you ask her if he's mentioned in the Area Book? That's the whole point of Area Books, to warn missionaries about dangers and time traps.

Of course, "My companion and I will succeed where all others have failed!"

I would but as long as she has something to do. I had those people and cherished the reprieve from living on the streets from morning till evening.

I think they have been avoiding us ever since I tried to kill them with kindness some years back. I think it was during Super Bowl. We had sandwich fixin's, sodas, chips, all kinds of good stuff. We offered to let them watch the Super Bowl with us.

I could tell that the junior comp was absolutely DYING to stay, but the senior comp clung to the Iron Rod like a trooper. They stayed long enough to have a sandwich, (and we muted the TV, because I have always thought it was rude to leave the TV on when you have visitors,) but left after that.

I often wonder if the junior comp found out who won the game. They aren't supposed to take any interest in what goes on in the world around them, but how can you help it?

Satanic is The Superbowl for sure! Great story. I watched The World Cup in Spain with a comp who was crazy for soccer. Boring.

Safe from what? Finding the truth?

When I kept them I wanted to kill myself because I was never enough without a worthy man. I did everything right but was miserable. I'm much safer now.

Ironic in a terrible way how many Mormon women under abuse to keep their covenants.

If the covenants are wrong, they hurt us rather than help us!

I never feel completely safe or free. I want that to change though. As my psychologist said, actual violence has happened to me it is not some fantasy story.
