So a Catholic bishop thinks if his parishoners fast this month, that will resolve the sexual abuse problems rampant in that church (not all that different from if you as a Mormon, fast: it will up membership, solve TSCC's problems - and if it doesn't, YOU failed):

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCCI) — The Catholic bishop of Des Moines is calling for churchgoers to fast certain days this month.

It's in response to decades of sexual abuse by clergy in the Catholic Church.

"We thought it would be good while it's on people minds to be able to do this and to enable them to contribute something to overcome this problem," Bishop Richard Pates said.

Uh, care to explain?

If the Church fails in its goals it's YOUR fault for not having
enough faith.

Who does this guy think he is--a Mission President??

It's actually all my fault. I figured out the pattern, everything horrible about any church is Adam's fault for not believing in Jesus enough,

"...enable them to contribute something to overcome this problem..."

Um, how does going without food for a month (or part of one) contribute anything to stopping religious officials from diddling little kids?

This bishop seems to see some connection that I can't...?

Here the statement the Archbishop of Seattle issued in regard to the PA grand jury report;

Archdiocese of the Seattle
710 9th Ave. Seattle, WA 98104

Statement of Archbishop J. Peter Sartain, August 17, 2018
Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report
With the recent allegations of sexual abuse committed by Archbishop Theodore McCarrick, former
Archbishop of Washington, D.C., and the release of a Grand Jury Report involving several dioceses
in Pennsylvania, the tragedy of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church is once again brought to light.
The sexual abuse of a minor is an intrinsic moral evil and a crime. Anyone responsible for such
an act or for shielding those who do, including bishops and other Church leaders, must be held
accountable for their actions. I join with oth- er bishops from throughout Washington and the
United States in expressing our sincere shame and remorse for the incredible harm these crimes have
caused the victims and their families.
The Catholic Church in Western Washington continues its focus on providing a safe environment for
all minors and vulnerable adults in our care. Special procedures, training and reporting protocols
were adopted in 1990. Our policies, training and procedures are re- viewed frequently and have been
updated several times.
To report any suspicion of abuse by any Church personnel, please contact local law enforcement. In
addition, anyone who has knowledge of sexual abuse or misconduct by a member of the clergy, an
employee or volunteer of the Archdiocese of Seattle is urged to call the archdiocesan hotline at
1-800-446-7762.
As Catholics, we believe that every life is sacred. Each person is created in the image and
likeness of our loving God. Violence and abuse of any kind are unacceptable, and we have a serious
responsibility to work towards their end. Together, we must do everything we possibly can to
protect children.

In this post Industrial Society, post Civil Rights society, post pioneer society, All the great causes are mostly finished, but young people (millennials) yearn to do something showy, Everyone wants to be a star, and be part of something special.

So they organize a fast, it's a faith building experience, so they can say that they were part of something worth while. Sort of like when the youth in Africa organized and put on days worth of mormon pioneer celebration for the Nelson and Hinkley when they showed up to be idealized, or going on "Treck" out in the Wyoming desert.

These experiences will be remembered for a life time, touching isn't it?

Since the catholic bishop organizing this isn't a "millenial," and since fasts have been going on in religious groups for millenia (pun intended)...I fail to see your point.
