Right. And it is highly likely that this will turn out to be a mundane rather than stupendous event. But, who cares, the story will have accomplished its purpose.

They have been working on the problem for over two years, but when the new evidence surfaced, it has seemed to prove the old theories wrong. If true, then the next step is to figure out what is coming out of the earth and why. If true, then this is a remarkable discovery.

Which was a report on anomalies discovered on the accretion disc as cosmic matter enter a black hole.

Ah, flying out of Antarctica because they went all the way through the planet from the north pole and they don't understand how the particles didn't hit anything along the way. I get that now, but why are they only coming out that way? Is there a reason they are traveling perpendicular to the plane of the solar system? Or are they coming out every which way but it's just that they're easier to measure in Antarctica?

COMMENT: Serious? Comparing your Mormon shelf with a scientific shelf? Please tell me you are being sarcastic. Now, I will readily admit that my scientific shelf is far from empty and it occasionally wobbles, sometimes quite violently, with the weight. But, my religious shelf collapsed and tumbled to the ground long ago.

My faith is religion has taken a total beating, my faith in Physics is now under threat because of this 'Scientific' American article, but my faith in Sarcasm reaches new highs daily.
