Your comment is significant, because of the history behind "latter-day" as a descriptor of the Mormon church. Remember that "latter-day" does not mean "final". It means "modern". When the "Saints" were picking names, they chose to style themselves as the true inheritors of all the powers, doctrine and rules that characterized the early church established by Jesus, whcih Mormons called the "primitive" church or words to that effect. Then the Mormons were the modern exemplar of that same tradition- you know, restoration of all things and all that. Somewhere along the way "latter-day" came to refer to the End Times, and it all went downhill from there. That's how we got Dallin Oaks.

Pretty much sums it up. The reputation of the Mormon church is so bad the prophet wants to distance the modern church from it. Seems like TCoJCoLS has a lot of renaming to do. It might end up doing what the reorganized church did. Toss Joseph Smith and everything in the church having to do with him and rename the church to Community of Christ.
Wars? Rumors of Wars? Man's Inhumanity to Man? Political Turmoil? Disasters .....and "God's prophet on the earth" spends a whole talk ranting about the name of the church, EVEN The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! Apparently when you're top dog your pet peeve is more important than anything.

And Tim Ferris says very similar things. As do many motivational, inspirational leaders. Even founders of Facebook agree with social media fasts for mental health.

Well what about Dieter imploring all of us apostates to "come back...we need you". Yep, he said that. He also said there's a lot of fine folks in that there religion...honest.
We are not a silent minority or something they can brush under the carpet any longer. Dropping Mormon from their name has as much to do with the ex-Mormon movement as it does other considerations.
Haven't you been paying attention? Yesterday, they actually told women to "set aside your chores, leave the dishes in the sink" to go spend time doing temple work. No shit. That should make for happy husbands-right? No wonder so many mormon women take anti-depressants. Inspired leadership, my ass.
About a dozen new profit centers...I mean...temple were announced, including one in Russia, but I doubt Putin is going to be up for that...unless there is a LOT of money involved.
