I was a MORmON

They seem like pretty decent folks. I don't think the Church should have "used" them to make converts. That would be like the JWs using the Jackson Five to make converts.
My uncle was Michael Jackson's massage therapist (no, not the happy ending kind). They're both dead now (my uncle and MJ both).
I saw Barbara Walters ask Donnie Osmond why the Church banned blacks from it's Temples. Donnie said, "Well, we really don't know the reason why".
That's not true, and Donnie knew it, but I've heard plenty of Mormons say the exact same thing to people. Lying for the Lord.
I had a crush on Marie. She married a womanizer, which is her business. As a young Mormon convert, I was told that Womanizers have "no power over Mormon women". That was 40 years ago. I discovered they have ABSoLUTE power.

Well, wiki shows (?) that Marie isn't married now....
I don't know marie, not sure if I could 'be myself' if I were to (most important to me!)...
I'm afraid that all these super-successful people become easily & quickly jaded by hang-ers on & opportunists... Perhaps they struggle to maintain a certain genuine self (Osmonds, Ken Jennings, many others)
I have (rarely, ha ha) no comment on the 'womanizer' thing!!
etadd: Marie divorced then re-married Steve Craig, making me wonder what his story is/was...
I'm betting she's both Very relationship / love smart now, maybe content to live out as a single woman. Too Bad, IMHO.

I find myself agreeing with D&D, & Elyse.
It's remarkable how the super-successful people (physicians, lawyers, accountants, etc.) are quick to link their personal fortunes to living 'the gospel' (of Mormonism, not so much basic Christianity), but when things like Marie's failed personal life go sour... Where is ChurchCo? just like Waldo, I think.
