This is in no way intended to be a defense of this individual, but I feel the prompting of the spirit to mention that mormonism asks that men not yield to the temptations of the flesh outside of marriage and then makes marriage between two unprepared young people a sort of ideal. In older human societies it would have been up to the father or chief to determine if he did anything bad.

In modern times societies blame the people making the "choices" with their "free will." The wife is to blame for choosing him. In other times the society would have made the choice for her.

And the teenager is a victim no matter how consensual because her society has made children a protected class. Does something magical happen at 18? Why can children marry with their parent's consent?

We don't know the whole story but I feel for the girl more than the perp and his wife. She was the one used. And from what details we know it was a pattern of abuse.

Here are the things that stood out to me. Grooming her since she was a freshman. A third party reported this, where were her parents? That this took place in several areas - my first thought was that he was her coach but he was the boys coach. And not to forget the two counts of burglary? What is up with that??

Since he is the Elders Quorum President was he a high priest? Will a court of love be held? Will he be excommunicated? I assume he will be on the sex offender list but since lds.inc does no background checks that would not help anyway.

Obviously he should be promoted to bishop or stake prez.

My guess is that he would turn down the promotion to be the priesthood authority over the young womens program.

If he gets booted depends on how much money he makes.

and what place his parents, wife & wife's parents are in the ward, community.

It's one thing to comfort the perp, show love, but quite another to 'go to bat for him' to try to reduce the consequences of his choices/actions.
