The Great Salt Lake has really shrunk. It was a lot bigger in the 70's. There are some potential dangers from dust going airborne from the lakebed to dust causing the mountain snowfall to melt early.

I never hear my Utah relative who live in the area ever talk about this. Oh well. I'm not planning on ever moving back there so I will let them own the problem which could be a huge problem.

Yes it does, and the long term trend is downwards. If there is a year with above average precipitation, the level goes up. If there is below average precipitation, it goes down. The problem is Utah diverts an increasing amount of the inflow before it gets to the lake, so overall it is shrinking. A wet year 36 years ago doesn't change that.

More than 15 years ago I was going through the Nauvoo region of Illinois and dealing with farmers. Many did not like Mormons at all. Main reason was their moving into Nauvoo and telling local landowners "God has given this to us and you will be gone before long, one way or another". That attitude was not appreciated.

Just as in the 1800's Mormons are lousy neighbors and bring "persecution" on themselves.

My junior GA brother bought 40 acres there at least 15 or twenty years ago. Luckily for the farmers he hasn't moved there. I probably ready to parcel it off to other Mormons. I don't ask. Would be interesting to know how many have done similar since you indicate the Farmers there have noticed that "special Mormon presence."

The pumps are still there and still working. Each month service workers go out and check on them. When needed they will work.

The dry lake bed does have a hard crust which keeps the dust down but airborne dust from the dry lake bed can make people sick. It can affect water quality. Utah also has serious water problems; especially, the southern part of the state.

Oh well. We are building more temples and we have the new PISS up a rope youth program.

My father's farm bordered the GSL in West Corinne and the lake had moved a long ways out compared to when I was young before we sold the farm. I tend to wonder how it was this past year since Bear Lake was filled to capacity this year and it hasn't been in YEARS--like 30 years. You could drive out onto the beaches for many years, but they had trouble finding spots to just stay for the day this year.

Hyrum Dam was FULL this year and I haven't seen that in all the years I've lived here.

But I definitely don't deny global warming. My fears are how it will effect my children and if I have any grandchildren. I'll be dead.

I quit going to / worrying about GSL ever since the resort there burndt down, why trains used to have a depot there, no other transport needed....

You guys are worried about SL air quality? It is already at horrible levels. Just drive through the industrial part of town and look at all the smelters going full steam. Yeah.

Not to mention horrible temperature inversions during the winter.

Except that there are no smelters but the one in Magna.

I know the Utah State DNR Water Division people monitor GSL tributary water usage.
DNR water folks also know that the greatest (?) man-made ecological disaster is Joseph Stalin’s diverting two rivers, the Amu Darya the Syr Darya for his Soviet cotton industry, which killed the Aral Sea.
After enormous effort and many failures, a small portion of the north end of the Aral Sea is restored. Meanwhile, the remainder is a toxic dust source which causes all kinds of illness and distress. Socialism screwed Uzbeks and Kazakhs in that area.

I am sorry, but when I hear about "shrinkage" in Utard, I cannot help but recall empirical evidence of shrinkage in another domain - that being the size of a Morman man junk. True, the pocket books of the average mormon is shrinking due to the pressure of donations to the cult. True, the average IQ of the mormon is shrinking due to cog dis and having to attend mind numbing meetings. However, the size of a Mormons junk has been shrinking begining with Joe and Brig - the tootsie roll brothers as I call them. On average, the size of a non-mormon's junk is 5.637'', but a comparable mormon's junk is only 2.3468. While I understand that the Q70/Q15 bring the average down for the Mormons, still shrinkage is a real problem for mormons.

I assume those who worry about our environment are doing what I do:

Piss outside so you don't waste water flushing toilets

Shower briefly only every 2 to 3 days.

Don't wash plates or utensils - just let them dry between uses to prevent bacterial growth.

Live close to work and shopping so you can walk or bike.

Do not go to global warming marches or meetings. Most protestors burn fossil fuels to get there.

Maybe they never should have settled on the banks of a fetid salty cesspool.

I'm so glad the inspired profits, seethers and regurgitators have been so focused on making sure the environment is protected for future generations...;)

Oh, wait Jesus will be coming anyway. My TBM boss actually told me this is why the profits don't talk about the environment.
