He redefined what a rock drummer could bring to the game. He added jazz and big band licks....he was unique, incredibly precise and spectacular. Geddy Lee said Neil only wanted to be the best rock drummer in the world.
Moon, Bonham, Baker, Peart...all gone now...world is a quieter, sadder place with no one to keep the beat going...at least not at the level those icons did.
Brother Peart's drumsticks have not stopped vibrating, and you happen by to completely spoil a perfectly good new year.
I don't care if Peart invented late-stage abortion, he deserves respect. Sure, his lyrics only earned him 500 times what I earn, but he was the greatest abuser of cymbals and skins since Krupa and Rich.
You will take back your words or I will fume all night, thinking about you.
On top of that he had abandoned his Ayn Rand past and has been critical of the GOP in his later years. Johnny Ramone was a republican but I still have much respect for him. As long as they’re not jerks like Nugent I really don’t care. Dave needs to take the high road here.
Especially since they’re my favorite classic rock band. Got into them in 2008 and a year after I left the cult and never looked back. RIP professor.
My favorite classic rock band. Been into them since 2008 and one year after leaving the morg. He died 4 years after Bowie on that same day. Say hi to Ziggy for us, Professor. RIP
Fans at RUSH concerts would eagerly anticipate Neil's drum solo, which all of their concerts had. It was the highlight of the evening. At least that is how I felt. I only saw them once around 2000. When I saw them there was no "warm up band". They just came out on stage and rocked for about three hours. When I first heard them in the early 80's when my sister bought the Moving Pictures album (in 8 track form. Yes, 8 track) and I learned that only three people were making all of that great noise I could hardly believe it. Most of their songs sound like there are at least five people in the band. We wore that 8 track out listening to Tom Sawyer, and the drums were the highlight of the song. RIP.
