"SALT LAKE CITY (KSL.com) — Elder Jeffrey R. Holland has been admitted to the hospital, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Wednesday.

Elder Holland, 79, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, was admitted last week following several days of illness.

The church said Elder Holland does not have COVID-19, but other diagnostic studies are now being done.

He has appeared quite unhappy for some time. Maybe this means he has finally grown sick of the mormon church.

Its tough being an Apostle. Knowing that the closer you get to becoming the president. If god does not want you to be president he will bump you off.

I wonder what it's like to have surrendered your conscience in exchange for the second anointing, then spending your life promoting what you know is a fraud, and finally seeing that the world increasingly rejects you and that all those sacrifices were in vain.

I have no problem conceptualizing the possibility that Holland, et alia, are doing exactly what they want to do and that they enjoy the ride.

Think about how long the Chicago Cub fans had to wait before their faith was rewarded.

Whether or not the afossils 'believe', they are capable of enjoying the ride. What they 'know' in their heart of hearts is something we can only theorize.

Just because you and I, being so pure of heart, couldn't maintain what for us would be a charade, doesn't mean there aren't those who can and do 'play the game'.

This reminds me of religion class at BYU in the 70s with Walter D. Bowen. He was one of the supposedly super special religion teachers then, everyone wanted to get into his classes. I hated it and found him to be a big fat arrogant pompous ass. We had to memorize all the apostles, assistants to the apostles and seventy (never-changing God had a different setup then) and know them in order.

He was BIG on the fact that when God calls them to be a PS&R, he knows who will be the future prophets and He takes people out very strategically to get the ones who are predestined to be profit to the top. But I'll bet they all think they're destined for the top and are waiting for the others to be taken out.

Hopefully they give him taffy instead of real medicine.

Jeffy has been released from the hospital:

He and his family appreciate the prayers and concern on his behalf.”

I'm so happy that all of you, well, except for two of you, prayed for Mr. Holland's speedy release from the hospital. It warms the cockles of my liver.

Surely Holland feels like he gets the least of idol worship of them all.
