I find 'most' want to live in an fantasy world and 'attempt' until some really serious reality hits them in the face!!
I find this true for myself and anybody I try to 'work with'. Eventually, one finds it better to accept reality versus getting hit in the face so much!
Ah yes, the follow-up message to your "post-factual reality" thread from a few years ago.
There was a time not too long ago when one could argue with a straight face that the clear majority of people wanted to live in a factual reality instead of an imaginary one. That is no longer true. We now live in an age of intentional self-delusion in which half of people worship the latest incarnation of the God of the Lie.
It's not historically unusual. Under various stresses, most people envy lemmings the simplicity and certainty of their existence. Those rodents who question the direction of the herd often end up trodden underfoot.
The lemmings have done great harm and will sadly do more.
When it became common for people to start using the phrase, "My truth," or, "Your truth," I knew it was all over. They are trying to play chess with checkers, because, they could never win the game with the real pieces. Any checker can be anything you want it to be and change at any time and you can call Check Mate and claim victory even before the game is finished.
(what formerly was) 'Facts' (not always useful) have been replaced in Morland by perspective which varies according to each persons point of view.
to be 'fair' (again, a matter of perspective!), ChurchCo isn't 100% responsible for this situation / paradigm, politicians have added to the mix / situation!!
