Does anyone know if it is still displayed?

At the time, many years ago, it was supposed to prove "the church is true", as they had this mummified person--an Indian(?) to prove it.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the museum is there anymore.

Maybe it was related to the mummies purchased by Mormons from Michael Chandler when he came to Kirtland in the 1830's:

Do you want names, the names of Utah's biggest new nuts?

Try John Brewer, Steven Quack Quayle and others, these people are not only crazed and serious, they're whacked!

Wshewww.. stay away they got round circles on em from folks touching all these people with ten foot poles.

It has been reburied.

This link tells the story of it.

TSCC closed the newzium in 2014 -2016 for OVER A YEAR - saying they wanted to make Jesus Christ as Center of there history/ museum/ story - maybe they traded him for Joseph and his mummies/ dumies.

I remember seeing it as a kid of about 12. Stuff of nightmares for me.

Optical illusion. People seeing President Nelson in person mistake him for a mummy.

One of my more un-spiritual moments. I was in High School. We toured the museum on a field trip. If I could have articulated my uncomfortable feelings at the time I would have said, "With all the reverence shown to our newly dead - funeral, flowers, expensive casket, prayers and talks and songs, headstones - why is it right to dig up someone else's reverently buried dead?"

Once the whole book of abraham fiasco was brought to light and the translation disproven it was no longer to the church's advantage to continue to display a "mummy". And anything disadvantagous must be disavowed, demeaned, and deleted
