And if so, to whom does he reveal the details, in terms of who gets one and how much?

This notion just occurred to me: has ghawd ever explained himself?

Yeah, I know that when Jesus asked his dad, "Ouchies!!   Hey!  Why hast thou forsaken me?  ...what's up with that?!", he got no answer, and Jesus covered for him, with the "...not my will, but they will be done..." part of the speech, or something along those lines.

How many post-1830 mormon prophets have ended up asking themselves, "What the hell's going on!!!"

I don't know that ghawd is all that 'mysterious'...  He comes across more like a mediocre manager promoted into a job slot for which he is not prepared, but family ties require that as long as the bottom line isn't affected, everyone can pretend he's doing a great job.

Facts and observed results are not currently supportive of the 'truth' narrative of the mormon church.  Thank Vishnu for 'Faith' being such a successful cultural imperative; where would Mormonism be without Faith?

You mangy cur!

I was holding "vish" in reserve for my next response. You were supposed to say something that would lead to my replying, "I vish that were true."

I heap upon you my most hearty maledictions, you shameless thief of others' puns!

Give person a vish and they believe for a day. Teach a person to vish and they believe for a lifetime.

Did you know the jaredite barges were constructed tight, like unto a vish?

If I was still Jonny the Smoke, I'd enjoy a visher sweet cigar after work.

I'm a vish, I'm a vish, oh the vish is back, stone cold sober as a matter of fact!

Vishing you all the best!

Haha, I caught you in a grammatical mistake. Let me fix that for you:

> sweet cigar after work.

“There’s nothing like the sound of execrations in the morning!”

Yeah, well I changed execrations to maledictions while you weren't looking.

And in any case, it's supposed to be "the smell of execrations in the morning." You should know that, young and lacking-in-confidence Harrison Ford wannabe!

Execrations are cursing, thus oral, and are perceived aurally, not as scents.

No need to apologize, I sense your despair.

You'd better tell Duval that, and Coppola.

You know Coppola, don't you? He's Italian.

"paying tithing breaks the cycle of poverty". Or maybe good investments make more money in 3 months than entire Africa can pay tithing in one year?

They truly worship money.

It's not about the money... is it?

Shouldn’t their stock portfolio be 100% highly profitable 100% of the time? You know, using that “prophet, seer, and revelator” person to further build up the kingdom?

Seems an appropriate use of that talent.

They are investing as men not profits. But the fact that they are so successful in such trying times speaks volumes about their pretensions as prophets. Look at what the Old Testament prophets were about and compare them to LDS ones.

By their fruits ye shall scold them.

That pfizer stock is getting a real good return from their latest product launch. No lawsuits either.

I was never convinced that God needed this money. Most churches are guilty of using the same timeless plea to ask for financial assistance from their members despite the billions in the bank.

Catholics and mormons are good examples of this. Always asking for more in order to do "God'work."

Catholics beat out the mormons in charitable donations to actual causes and some not so great.

Don't they ever invest in shitty stocks that lose a ton of money? We can only wish.

All the time. I checked a few years ago. I think sometimes they are influenced by their connections more than other advisors.

Making money is their business. Mormonism is just the sideline that provides the investment money.

I once heard it described here on RfM as a Ponzi Schema masquerading as a religion.
