Forensic analysis of the BoM shows that it is a synthesis of contemporary thought. Every guess made about the ancients turned out to be wrong. The plate chase you mention is physically impossible. Crossing almost 200 miles of desert in three days, impossible without some Mad Max crossover. Wooden submarines and Jaredite battles, ludicrous. You don't need Golden Plates to account for such obvious hokum.
The BoM is faith-promoting fiction. Mormonism works well enough as long as you don't think. Non-thinking doesn't work in the 21st century.
Actually, that last part is wishful thinking. Every century works for suspension of rational thought because humans don't actually perceive reality. Read Donald Hoffman. So yes, the church's origin story is all lies. Is believing in lies so bad if we're going to do it anyway? That said, once you're red pilled there's no going back.

When I first read about the tight like unto a dish submarines and I was about 15 years old I called BS on it. You probably would die from ammonia poisoning from all the piss and shit that would accumulate or certainly die from a disease from unsanitary conditions. What about fresh drinking water? Where was that stored? Also with those things being tossed around and even turned upside down it would be a mess.
