Boilermaker brought up a good point about the short-sightedness of thinking Mitt's participation in morg temple rituals (giving your all to the church or suffer your life to be taken [slit throat, disembowel, rip your heart out]) disqualifies him to be president. Here is a list of all former presidents who were Freemasons (same secretive ordinances, some say Joe stole):

George Washington
James Monroe
Andrew Jackson
James Polk
James Buchanan
Andrew Johnson
James Garfield
William McKinley
Theodore Roosevelt
Howard Taft
Warren Harding
Franklin Roosevelt
Harry Truman
Gerald Ford

So, in my opinion, founding Mitt's disqualification upon participating in morg temple worship is baseless. Maybe we should focus more on what the hell he might do if the morg starts going under financially and what his beliefs are in the United Order or moving to Missouri or some other irrational doctrine of the church involving the last days.

Just sayin'...

Ron

Question: Do the Masons have an oath that the members will give all they have or all they ever will have to the building up of the masonic lodge?

...as well as never speaking ill of the lodge's leaders? (Mormons covenant never to speak ill of the "Lard's annointed). This oath sort of precludes the ability to oppose one's church or lodge leaders when there is disagreement.

My fraternity initiation ceremony in college had Masonic elements to it. We did pledge never to reveal the ceremony, but I never took any oaths promising to donate all my money, time, talents, everything I have for the building up of the fraternity, nor was there any promise to avoid public disagreement with its leaders.

board, ExMoRon:

ChurchCo exacts PENALTIES for non-compliance-conformance to its DEMANDS.

While the threat of 'Earthly' penalties might be considered slim ... the idea of Refusing to do what a ChurchCo Prophet (profit) tells you to do.... while having other agenda items ... is ALWAYS Intimidating!

Why... 'IF' it's twoooo.... God w/could PUNISH EVEN POTUS for shading a decision or action away from Prophet's advice/counsel!

Don't you know that the interests/requirements/DEMANDS of tcoJCoLDS TRUMP EVERYTHING ELSE ?!

suppose a gov't contract was up for bids, and a Utah comp with lots of LDS employees (tithpayers) was a bidder.

Prophet gets MR on the phone and says.... Mitt, Utah & ChurchCo NEED THOSE JOBS/INCOME!

improbable? I Don't Think so!

IT could all be done with the SECRECY that 'Religion' claims as Privilege!

All of this would be subject to Congressional oversight. If the electorate didn't like it they would change it. You don't think every President does the same thing? Again, I think a Mormon President would be under more pressure to make sure this wouldn't happen for his Mormon friends than other Presidents are for their union/corporate friends.

If he tried to do anything to favor the Mormon Church it wouldn't fly in Congress and would be unconstitutional. I don't think there are any believing Mormons left who really believe in any of the United Order stuff. Anyone who fears that some Mormon president will try to institute anything like that is living in la-la land. Anyone who believes a Mormon President could get away with it lives in a different country than I do.

takes precedant. I think its a legitimate concern.

Which oath would a President Romney or Huntsman place first? His oath to his church or to his nation? I think its a legitimate question, I don't think its Mormon bashing, and once answered the voter can use that answer in their own equation as to the suitability of either candidate.

But thats just me.

If you are wearing magic underwear, then you cannot represent me on the international stage as the leader of the free world.

Why?

Because, dude, you believe in magic underwear.

swore to consecrate all of their time talents and money to the building up of zion which, per mormon doctrine, includes the overthrow of the US and its constitution and replacing it with a theocracy set up in missouri manned by mormons. Did they? I'm not an expert on masonry at all so I could be wrong.

would change a political position because "the brethren" ruling masonry told them to, like Mitt did in MA, I wouldn't vote for them either.
