REAL N95 are coming soon too. Again, I would be happy to pay for REAL ones. I am unclear about the distribution on these but that is the real deal for the tests.

As a school nurse, I've performed about 400 of these rapid antigen tests.
I've learned a few things.
The tests are not as accurate as the PCR tests.
If you are fully vaccinated and have no symptoms, the rapid tests are pretty worthless.
Even if you are early in the illness, you might get a false negative with a rapid test.
If you get a positive result--believe it. Another test is not needed or recommended.

It doesn't care if you've had covid. It doesn't care if you got boosted last month. If someone in your house has covid, you'll probably get it even if you keep that person in their own room.
Your last point is hyperbolic to the point of dishonesty. Vaccines and previous illness still have a substantial effect on the susceptibility of infection, even with the omicron variant. This is especially the case if the vaccine or illness was recent.
Four out of the five people currently living in my home are up to date with recent vaccinations. The fifth person waited a bit too long to get boosted and caught the bug. It was transmitted to none of the rest of us.
Being up to date with the vaccine is still very much of value.
Thanks, Susan! I ordered the four that I was allowed. I won't forget feeling unwell at the end of December and not being able to locate a rapid test until that evening. I don't want to go through that again.
BTW, for those who live in apartments or condos, if the system won't take your address, try reversing it and putting your apartment or unit number first.
One very small minority the tests won't help (at least not right away) is blind and (some) visually impaired people living independently. Bhis is because both the measurements and reading the test results require the use of sight. Both of the national blindness consumer organizations, the American Council of the Blind (ACB) and the National Federation of the Blind (NFB), have raised complaints with the federal government about this.
Fortunately, my younger sister is sighted and lives with us. She will be able to handle the visual requirements of the tests once we receive them.
