Anyone here from Maine?

My wife and I went to Portland Maine for the holiday weekend to visit her sister. Had a great time! Ate lots of lobster, clams, oysters, fish, mussles, had a farm to table dinner party, went sailing on a schooner, took the ferry to Peaks Island and rode bikes around the island.

The weather was perfect too and we had no trouble getting through the airports.

This was my first trip there and I'm looking forward to visiting again.

I don't think so. We had steamed clams...short necked clam? It had a siphon about 1.5 inches long. And we had fried clams which were smaller. All delicious.

My bro-in-law knows a guy and gets lobster from him. The day we got there he had a 2 or 3 pounds, caught that morning and cooked. We made lobster rolls....first time for me!

It is pretty great, isn't it? Summer in Maine is the ideal of many New Englanders. I have family in Portland. I don't think I can ever get enough lobster rolls.

Do you have a favorite place? My wife and I will be there in October. Looking forward to some good lobster and an adult beverage with her. It's been a long road to get to this point.

This is my old mission stomping grounds. Absolutely beautiful in the Summertime. I'm jealous. I always wanted to return just to soak in the ambience and look around without the mileage restraints and the need to find contacts to teach. I once made it up to Machias. The Maine coast is awesome.

From next door in NH. When I was growing up, we'd spend a week in Ogunquit every summer. Some great memories, and one of my favorite places.
