The awkward MOMENTS when your warned a Mormon confident about a Mormon woman with 8 kids…

And then you find out this Mormon confidante has a 29 year old daughter with 6 kids and he has stopped telling people when she’s pregnant out of shame.

Is this the same person who works with you and he was embarrassed to tell the whole office that he's got 9 grandkids?

I don't understand the sensationalism of these topics you're making about this guy.

Having a lot of children isn't just a Mormon thing. And it's not a crime.

Having a lot of children in poverty isn't a crime. Some people have big families and it's not/shouldn't be the privilege of the rich to have children. That's bizarre and gross the way you've framed it, that these poor people are doing something deliberately heinous by having kids when they're struggling for money.

Not wanting to share details of your life with acquaintances at work is not a crime. And from the fact that you found this out and have come here to make two threads about it, denigrating this guy for the choices of his daughter as if it's this huge hypocrisy or moral failing, it seems like he was right not to trust you and others at work with these aspects of his life. This thread proves you to be a bad faith actor when it comes to certain people confiding in you. You get that, right?

Your fixation on him is puzzling.

Got a real life Old Woman in a shoe here. Her feelings are hurt.

(Mixed up my nursery tales. It was the old woman who lived in the shoe with all the kids. This is what got people’s feelings hurt here.)

Hurt feelings. Had 10 kids trying to keep the Covenant then you realize it was a scam.

It hurts I know.

If you are really a boss in that company and having the conversations you claim, it's only a matter of time before you are sued.

Not to mention all sorts of conversations that, given the power differential, may well be illegal.

It's indiscreet.

When you say a Mormon “confident/confidante” do you mean he confides in you ?

Do you feel shame ?

First Nightingale, then summer, and now Kathleen.

You're safe here: you can let fly with a four-letter word if you want.

I think it's two different cultures colliding. That man likely wouldn't feel out of place in most of the Moridor. But among nevermos in "the mission field," someone having six kids nowadays would be highly unusual. I was trying to think back over my teaching career spanning more than a quarter century. Maybe a few of my families had six kids or more.

I personally don't think it's wise to have that many kids due to a number of factors. What if one of the parents dies, or suffers a job loss, or there is a divorce? That's a lot of mouths to feed. But I guess for some people the risk is worth it.
