The irony of kids, forced to endure mass shooter drills at school, can’t get guns regulated, yet something that has never killed a kid, gets banned and heavily regulated, giving kids the right to sue for harm.

Why? Because the intent is not to protect children but to make the legislators look good to their right-wing cancel culture audience. This is just theatrics.

Kids are smart.

They'll simple reroute the request through a shadow server that says they're in Jersey.

What is proof of age? That will affect every utah citizen. Do I want to give that info to social media? Hell no.

Oh and sign over my device so that big tech can shut it down at night? Not happening.

Then.... what is social media? Facebook, tik to. Etc ok. But is you tube really social media? What about RFM or Reddit?

Are they going to make Google screen those who make inquiries to ensure those affected (kids) aren't asking to see things they're not supposed to?

Will they make Wikipedia screen for those articles that those less than 18 ought not to see?

Will religious sites be affected in that there is some erotica in the bible?


I say ban kids from the internet until they turn 18!!

elderdog, you only want to ban under 18 yo kids from the internet because they can do 100x more things on their computers and phones than we older users ever thought could be done or will ever be able to do.

One of the neighborhood kids just graduated from high school. Three years ago when they were assigned "limited use" laptops to all the students at school, he had his reconfigured to access games and everything on the web, not just the structured school curriculum.

Many of the older neighbors were having him over to show them how to access their bank, medical etc. records, how to get movies from Netflex, etc.

The kid is a genius on the ordinary stuff, sure hope he makes a carreer in IT, cyber-security, etc.

15yrs ago my teenage Son had downloaded every movie and song he wanted to an external hard drive. I asked him how he did that. He said,”Just go to PirateBay.com and download them.”
So I went to PirateBay.com and downloaded a movie I already owned on DVD. The next day I gat a call from my ISP telling me they were contacted by Warner Bros attorneys who were not happy about the fact I downloaded one of their movies and they threatened to kick me off of their ISP if I ever did it again.
I told my Son who said,”That’s because you’re a dumbass Dad! I change my IP address six times a minute.”

I never bothered asking how he did that. I didn’t even want to know.

The intent is bad because once again, it appears LDS driven legislation is snaking it's way into the homes of people it wants to control. Let us make this decision for you, we know what is best. I do not listen to conference much anymore. But a few years back I conference, I forget the"general authority" who blessed us with his wisdom, basically stated agency is a shame. Let us legislate, through our version of Libertarianism, how to best keep your kids safe.
